Great news, Jeanne. You're doing so well, and your mental attitude is the

best! It's all about stopping to appreciate the good stuff, isn't it? So

glad all is fine, keep us posted every now and then. Fondly, PhillyJude MGB

Thanks PhillyJude,

I think attitude is what its all about. when life

hands you the lemons...make some marghretias....lol I

spelled that wrong but what the heck...I could have

said lemonade but I like the other drinks better...lol

anyhow, positive thinking has lots of power, and helps

breed growth...negative thinking has power too but it

breeds stagnation....so I want to grow not stagnate.

Take care and thanks

Good for you! You have the right attitude.

One Year Anniversery

Hello to all!!!

I don't post much but am now since I'm celebrating my First

anniversery of having my MGB with Dr. Rutledge. I had my surgery on

July 20,2000. I started out at 321# and am now am 218#. I've lost 103

pounds.

I feel terrific, and am having no side effects. I have never

dumped, or had difficulty eating certain foods. I did vomit a few

times early on when I didnt know when to stop eating, or I ate too

fast and didnt chew good enough. But since learning how my new tummy

works, I haven't vomited in months. I never have diarrhea, and

actually am usually constipated. For this I take a bran tablet when I

feel Im constipated. Other meds include: One Source Vitamins, three

times a day, Citracel 1 tsp. twice a day in 2-3 oz of water. and I

still take the Prilosec 40 mg bid, for my reflux. Its better but not

completely.

I excercise at least three times a week, though I'll admit some

weeks I dont get to go at all, just the way my schedule falls, but I

try to stick to a schedule. I mix walking on a treadmill, weight

lifting, and pool walking,It seems to work physically and mentally it

helps keep me positive thinking as well.

I have family and friends who hardly recognize me. It feels great.

I wear between a 16 and a 18, mostly from all the extra skin from my

belly hanging there....someday I may get that cut off!!! lol

Next week, I am traveling with my best friend who is having the MGB

with Dr. Obrien in South Dakota. I am so excited for her to be able

to experience this surgery. I cant wait for her journey to begin.

Please say some prayers for us both. She is excited and scared as

well. Werent we all?

Would I recommend this surgery to anyone? Heck YES!!! I am not

afraid of the bile problems, or the other things that could happen, I

was more afraid of living the rest of my life like the freaky fat

lady in the circus. That was how I saw myself. NOW, I have self

confidence, I feel good about myself, and Im learning lots of things

about myself I never knew before. I like being outside, I thought I

hated it, I love to go for walks, I was too tired before, just a few

things that I have figured out. I know Im losing slower than some,

but I am also losing faster than some. Im not counting. Im just

concentrating on being healthy. That is my goal. A healthy lifestyle.

Anyhow, sorry this is so long and winded but I just think I am

lucky to have found Dr. Rutledge's website when I did, I pray each

day he can start doing this life saving surgery and help more people

like me. This tool is what I needed to change my life, and I am

sooooo glad I took the chance and danced!!

Good luck to those waiting, youre in my prayers, and God Bless all of

us.

Awesome email Jeanne! I agree that the MGB is only a tool and that the goal

is a healthy lifestyle! That is how I view the MGB and share the same goal.

I am so fortunate to have had the surgery performed by Dr. Rutledge! My

husband and I pray for him daily and will continue to do so even when is able

to perform the procedure once again.
