I went to the Bon Jovi concert Sunday night(had a great time, and

even got backstage passes to meet SR-71). Anyway, even going to this

concert isn't something I would have even CONSIDERED in March. While

waiting for the concert to start, I was standing by some guys who

said " How does some one get that F***ing fat " . Of course I just knew

they were talking about me, and I was crushed, when he continued by

saying " Look at that girl in the purple shirt " I knew they weren't

talking about me " . Now, I'm BIG, don't get me wrong, and I still

cried for the girl they were talking about, but it felt nice not to

be pointed out for my weight. Later in the concert, the camera guys

even put this girl on the jumbotron. I always knew that obese people

were so terribly made fun of, but I guess it is something I was

always in denial about, or just didn't like to think about it.

Also... I'm about to start feeding my hubby cake. When I had surgery

I was abot 30 lbs heavier than JT, now I'm getting smaller, and so is

he. Right when I catch up with him, he looses a couple of more lbs.

He's lost about 12 lbs since surgery, we're both floating around

255. I WILL BE SKINNIER than HE. No, seriously, I hope that he loses

weight right along with me. I've seen before and after pictures of

a's husband, and he also looks to have lost a couple of lbs. I

do catch myself feeling badly about things I say to . Like the

other day, he ate a sub in 2 bites. He's become more aware of what

he eats through my experiences. And last night when we went out to

eat, I pushed my left overs to him, and he instinctively started

eating, and then asked me to remove them. I'm very proud of him.

Well, I think that's about it for now...only that I'm still horrible

about eating. It's noon, and I haven't had anything to eat today.

I'm trying very hard to get out of that old habit, but it isn't

working. It seems that something as simple as eating breakfast

should be easy compared to altering your digestive system in order to

be healthy.

amanda, I got chest pains thinking about that girl!!!! That's the reason

that most of us stayed in our homes and let people walk all over us, so that

we wouldn't direct attention to ourselves.

,

That's the exact reason I stayed home too. I haven't done anything

that people my age have been doing. I didn't go to clubs in college,

I went to an all girls college so not to have to deal with comments

from guys. I hated going anywhere. I did eventually go to

Mississippi State, and I every day I heard a different comment. I

learned which halls to take when so as to not to pass crowds of

people. I went to one football game, but after a horrible

experience there, I never went back.

Now I feel so fortunate. Fortunate that I was able to make a decision

to have WLS, so that I can reclaim my life. I can go to clubs, and

concerts, and dancing. I will go to the beach, to amusement parks.

I will hike the AT, I will get back to repelling, I will go rock

climbing. That's why I thank God everytime someone says " I wish this

surgery had been available when I was younger " . Just the 30+ lbs I

have lost have made HUGE differences in my self esteem. I still

can't go out and join a health club, I even made the appointment and

didn't go. I feel like the lady who posted that said that she was

emabarassed to buy the size 14 jeans. I still feel that I'm not

worthy enough, or that I would just be setting myself up for ridicule

if I joined one, I'd be thinking about what everyone was thinking

about me the entire time. This is why I AM SOOOO proud of .

She has been able to take charge of her health, and I'm still waiting

to get to that point with as my inspiration. So while I still

have problems with self esteem. I took pictures last week to update

my MGB friends picture, and I HATED it. I've been trying to scan it

to send in to Tricia. My husband and my best friend just Gawk at the

difference(at the time i was 28 lbs down). People are starting to

notice, but I'm starting to notice the changes in my emotional health

already... but I still have a long way to go.

, when I joined my gym, It was just prior to surgery and I did it

hoping that my package would more readily be approved. I was 286 that day

and when the girl showed me around, I had my 22 year old son accompany me

and then when the woman brought me into the middle of the place, I asked her

if we could go inside the office because I felt that everyone was staring at

me. When I first went there, it was after I lost about 30 lbs and I

realized that nobody was looking at me and they were more interested in

themselves. There were even gals there as big as I am and that helped. I

always keep a hand towel with me so that when I sweat, I can wipe it away so

nobody thinks I am sweating because I am " fat " , oh how we have suffered!!!!

I hope to God that society changes and/or the medical field can fix this

situation for others in the near future so nobody has to suffer like this

much longer.

Try a half cup of raisen bran with skim milk for breakfast. Dr. R recommended

this as being healthy for us. It isn't much, but it sure does make a

difference. I get Total Raisen Bran for the extra vitamins and minerals as well

as the bran in it. And now I don't even want sugar--it is really sweet all by

itself. That is a change also.

How was it meeting SR71? You know they used to be " Honor Among

Thieves " a band from Baltimore? I think they are awesome (But I wish

they still had their long hair!) I know exactly what you mean about

the concert thing!! I heard all the comments and stuff. After a

while you just want to make yourself invisible!

June 9th I am going to my first concert as a post-op. . . The Glam

Slam Summer Jam (or something like that) with Poison,Warrant, E'Nuff-

z-Nuff, and Quiet Riot. I can't wait to go!!!

Enjoy the new experiences!!! I know I am!

Actually I didn't say a word to them. My hubby is a big fan, and I

took pictures of him with a couple of the guys. I've got seats to

Aerosmith later in the summer, Barenaked Ladies in Bham Alabama in

August, and hubby has plans to go to Oz fest in PA with some

friends. I almost got tickets to the Poison concert, but decided on

Bon Jovi instead. Madonna tickets go onsale tomorrow. They're 250.00

$!!! for good seats!!! I won't be seeing Madonna anytime soon.

*lol* Moby is selling right now also, but I'm saving money for the

Aerosmith concert.

You are doing great and getting OUT THERE! I am proud of you!

I hate the prejudice we have all felt and I hope the anonymous girl in purple

didn't hear those idiots comments. She is probably bigger than them in more

ways than one!!

Tips on hubby eating...

My hubby is king of the leftover. I have had to learn to not make as

much...I've cooked for 3 for too long and always overcooked then. This is an

ongoing thing, but I DO have a great tip for eating out~~

ORDER ONLY ONE THING! It saves money, sure to appeal to him if he's like my

guy, and it makes HIM make wiser food choices and it actually extracts a

little from his oversized portion! Let's face it, restaurants serve us WAY

too much food, which I personally loved them for in a previous life :)) , but

now that we KNOW we don't need a full platter to eat just to exist, we should

also know that our hubbies don't need one and a half or more, which is what

they get if we both order!

I love my tubby hubby just as he is, but don't want him to think that because

I cannot eat as much means he should eat more...so far, he has thought that.

So I am working hard to make sure I don't do what a lot of anorexics do: Love

others with the food I myself cannot embrace!

LOVE YA~~ Keep up the great fun and go get em spirit!
