Guest guest
I haven't posted in a long time but wanted to comment on the longer term posts, especially as I am at the 17 month postop mark. I'm feeling really good but curious as to why my body has chosen to stop at the point it has. I've lost 115 lbs and am down to a size 10 but feel like there is still about 15 lbs of fat on my body that should have been lost. I am NOT complaining, just curious. Of course, I don't help the effort much. My eating habits stink and if it wasn't for the surgery I would be as fat as a cow. I do exercise (Maggi and I did a walking half marathon last month!!!!) but in an inconsistent manner. I basically am having the same experience with how my body takes in food that I have had since the 5 or 6th month. If I eat too fast I get really uncomfortable. I am constantly eating too much and feeling uncomfortable. I avoid greasy, fried or extremely fatty foods as they do not sit well. But sugar goes down like a charm and I eat plenty of it unfortunately. I've had several dumping incidents lately so I really have to start watching it. Obviously I'm not Dr. R's idea of the good post surgical patient. But this surgery has given me my life back and I am forever greatful. The basic issue is that I abused my body with food before and I still do but Dr. R has put a controller in my body that seems to keep my attempts to kill myself with food to a safe level! Anyway, just some thoughts from a longer term postop. in Atlanta 275/160 MGB 10/12/
Guest guest
Hi, good to hear from you again. I feel, your body has stopped, maybe because that is where it has decided your weight should be. Of course, in time, it could change. Remember, WE set the goals. That doesn't mean our body's listen us lol. HUGS! a

Guest guest
Thanks Danelle, Yes, we have a support group although we haven't met in ages. I am good friends with another postop and we share notes and support all the time. It does really help. Hope you find a group down there, although in my experience the best support comes from this group online!! in Atlanta
Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for your story as a long-term post op. I am ten days post-op today, and think about how I will deal with food when I get down the road. I see you are in Atlanta. Is there a support group in your area for post-op WLS poeple or MGB post-ops? I know that that will be a key to my success, talking with others who share my WLS thought process and see what works for others that may or may not work for me. I am in Orlando and am currently seeking that type of support group in this area. Anyways, just a thought. Good luck, and thanks again for sharing. Guest guest
I totally agree with what a said. Our bodies has a weight we can maintain and that weight might not be what we've set at a goal. Guest guest
I totally agree with you. I find myself looking forward to reading my emails much more than I did B4 MGB. What did people do before the Internet? >From: Drea352@... >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Flo/15mth update >Date: Mon, 20 May 2002 12:50:28 EDT > >Thanks Danelle, >Yes, we have a support group although we haven't met in ages.
