A two-day introduction workshop for RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) was schedule for Columbus in October. Due to lack of early registration, the workshop was cancelled. Workshops in other cities for the past three years have sold out at least four to six months in advance. I don't know about you but I am tired of all the workshops being in Chicago, New York, etc. I would like to travel locally due to childcare and expense. RDI is a new therapy for autism that targets the core deficits for autism. It is family based with a focus on family interaction. Even with a consultant, RDI is a therapy that is substantially less costly than other therapies. Early studies indicate that this therapy is incredibly successful. If we want a two day and then a four day followup workshop here in Ohio we must show interest. The Connection Center in Houston (RDI home) is tracking interest on their website. If you are interested, please follow the links and steps below. It does require signing up on their website. I find the email newsletter very helpful. The message boards are full of information and you can chat with Dr. Gutstein or Dr. Sheely weekly (they founded the RDI methodology.) Follow the steps below and let's bring them to Ohio! 1. Go to www.rdiconnect.com 2. In blue navigation bar on left side, click on Member Services. 3. At top of list, click on Register and follow instructions. If you are already registered, continue to the next step. 4. Login - see top of list on Member Services Page 5. Midway down the Member Services Page you will find a link under Message Boards - click on City Focus Groups 6. See the Posting called "Could we try Ohio Again?" Click on that and post a reply. That's all. This is a great site and rich with information. Let's bring RDI to Ohio!
