I am 2 years post op and just signed on to the newsgroup. Is there a

newsgroup just for men? While I have learned a lot from the group, so much of

it is really " too much information " for a guy.

I am 59, have lost 140 lbs and now weigh 200. I haven't varied by more than

4-5 pounds in over a year. All of the clothes in my closet are the same size

now, and everything fits! My bad cholesterol is 74 and it was over 300. I no

longer take Lipitor for it. I take very little insulin now, don't need Actos

for my diabetes, the sleep apnea is gone, I no longer qualify for a handicap

parking tag. I am not a terribly compliant patient and still it has worked.

Two years ago my primary care doctor told me that I would probably have a

massive heart attack and die in the next year. I am 59 and had a cardiac

bypass in 1995. My primary care doctor suggested that I go to the teaching

hospital in Gainesville for surgery, since he had tried everything else

possible. I went to the internet and found Dr. R. My doctor approved. My

cardiologist approved as well. I gave each of them a booklet. Both doctors

have recommended Dr. R to other patients and have had other patients call me

to talk about it. My insurance doesn't pay for obesity surgery of any kind,

but it was well worth the $15,000 it cost me. (Because of my age and heart

condition, my doctor in Orlando requested that I recover in intensive care.)

I'm alive, active, and doing well. Now I am looking forward to a tummy tuck

to get rid of the apron. Life is grand.

Hi there lady! Well.. when dumped me, I faxed

them messages every day until they got it fixed so,

you may have to call them or fax them if it doesn't

correct itself.

Sounds like life is wonderful for you. I understand about us girls on

would miss you guys!

Dear , Your letter was truly an inspiration. I

also felt very lucky to have had a word with my eye

doctor of all people, who said ,when she saw how

miserable I was, " have you heard about this doctor in

Durham? " and proceeded to suggest I look into wls. I

had asked 5 other doctors about obesity surgery, and

every one said they either didn't know about it, or

that it was way too dangerous. So we are lucky!

Congratulations on keeping 1 size of clothing. I can't

imagine this yet! My o.r. was Jan. of this year. I am

a newbie. All the best to you. Sincerely M.

NOT JUST FOR GUYS! If only there were someone to weed-out the 'chit-chat'

and stick with the 'topic at hand'---the MGB-----before,during and after and

the information pertaining to our health and well being.-------W hat a

pleasure it would be open all the emails and learn from others and share our

own stories, either to learn or teach others about this miraculous experience.

OR

Maybe there can be a group for busy people who want to be a part(I always

read Flo's, as they are informative, to the point, and always accurate) but

do not have the time to go through so many at a time. Is there a solution?
