Your loss is phenomenal! Relax. You will start losing again. Plateaus are a

normal and expected thing. As well as you have done so far there is virtually

no chance you will stop losing now!

plateau!!!

I had my mgb about 7 months ago. To date I have lost 98 pounds and I am

thrilled. Last month I lost only 7 and this month I have lost nothing. I am

afraid I have completed my weight loss and I still have another 20-25 pounds. to

go.

Any comments? Also I have had hair loss it seems to be slowing down now and

my nails seem better. Does it grow back?

Thanks,

,

Yes, the hair comes back! I know when it's falling out it's rather

disturbing, but it grows back. Mine is coming in nicely.

As for the pleateu..maybe your body is just taking a break. Mine took 5

months off and I had to get to the gym to coax it back into losing again. I

feel so much better though. The weight will come off. Slowly but surely! ; o )

I can totally relate. I am 3.5 months out and have not lost anything for 5

weeks. Well, I have actually been gaining and losing the same 5 or so

pounds. I am just waiting it out and hope it starts up soon.

My hair is falling out alot. But that I can deal with. The not losing

weight is a little tougher. Hope your does not last as long as mine.

Be patient and know you are not alone. We have all had the same fears.

Just like any other weight loss there are plateaux and your body is just

adjusting. You'll lose more - maybe really slowly but you will lose more.

I was still losing at 15 months post-op.

Well, I looked at the calendar and I am actually closer to 4 months post MGB

(liking 1 week being 4months). At 2 months, I had lost 60.

So from the beginning of month 3(April) I have lost the rest I suppose.

Now I am confused. All I know is for the last 5 weeks I have bounced around

the same 5 pounds. I have not had any unusual hormonal/emotional problems

(ask Sherry K. more about that...;o) Just the day to day life type issues.

I feel great and am looking great (if I must say so myself) but just really

want to break the big " 3 " barrier.

hugs,

Audra ...I think I confused myself on this one ;oP

Audra,

I just got off an almost month long plateau where I bounced the same 2

pounds around. Also, every time I have been on the verge of breaking a

barrier - you know the big " 3 " , the big clunker on the scale, etc. my body

always resists. Hang in there! Keep doing the things you know are good for

you and it will work itself out.

I only lose a few days outta the month, and this is my few days.

I've lost 5 lbs in the last few days without losing any all month.

I'll have my period next week and then not lose for a few more days.

I BROKE 250!!!! Yeah ME! Of course, I'll have to go to my Dr's

scale to make it official.

My only comment is..... are you happy?

I feel right now, almost 7 months out and down about 75 lbs, that I'd do it all

over again " just for this loss " !

I know if I stopped loosing weight tomorrow I'd try to find some way to start

up again.. but, like you said if you are done you're done. I don't think I'd

have a revision for only 20 or 25 lbs.

This is just my 2 cents..

I have never tried it, but there is a book out about eating according to

blood type. I thought it seemed a little far fetched. . . but then who

knows. Anyone here ever tried it? PhillyJude

Hi Gang,

I have been reading many post of slow weight loss, or no weight loss

at all. I have my surgery a year ago and have lost 120 poounds but

still at least 20 pounds from goal and seem to be on a plateau. When

I went to my PCP for my one year blood work and check-up we had a

long talk about reaching goal. She gave me several " DIET " Sheets

according to your blood type. Well according to these sheets I am

eating many things that will prevent me from losing weight that I

thought was healthy eating. There are many veggies and fruits that

are no no's! Some fish, meats, cereals, crackers. I haven't tried it

yet because I am recovering from surgery and I can't do without some

of these things since some are my mainstay of foods. Anyway I said

all of this to say if she is right and it has anything to do with my

blood type, I am seriously fooling myself when I think I am eating

healthy. So those of you who are " stuck " right now don't beat

yourself up thinking you should change things. Maybe it's in our

power.. maybe not. Has anyone else's PCP mentioned this??

no, but i have seen several articles/tv stories about how there is NO

scientific evidence or rationale to back it up--and that it can lead

to unhealthy diets in some cases. unless they have come out with some

astounding new data, i wouldn't use it.

Hi Marie, congratulations on your 120 pound loss!!! I have been

reading about this diet and have read reviews on this one that says

it doesn't mean sh-- what your blood type is. The medical profession

as far as I read is not behind this one, so I am surprised your pcp

is recommending it. The diet that Dr r recommends the Dean Ornish

program gets high marks from everyone but most say it is very hard to

stay on because of the very low fat part, only 10% fat. Like you did

before surgery do your own research, you have been extreamly

successful so don't get discouraged now, you will do great. I agree

with you though that we should really be looking at how healthy our

diet is, so that we can continue losing now that it is much more

difficult. There are so many opinions out there on diets, that we

have to be careful we don't follow some fad diet that doesn't work.

WW also gets high marks from most professionals and doctors and with

our decreased capacity should be doable now even if we never could

before, I am thinking of doing ww again myself just to learn to eat

healthy again. My problem is I still love sweets, so I have to watch

it, because sometimes nothing seems to taste good, but sugar always

does, so I am tempted to treat myself to candy, I can't eat much but

I see an old pattern emerging that scares me. This is an ongoing

process and we still have a lot to learn, so everybody keep sharing

so we can all succeed.
