Guest guest
I would also be very curious about Dr. R's thoughts on this because I had looked into it too. My concern is would it have the " effect " as Xenical if you know what I mean? I don't see how it wouldn't. TO: Laurie/Chitosan info and bile acids > Laurie, > > Thanks for all of that info. I've printed it for future reference, should I ever need it. Looks like you've done a lot of work on this. You'd mentioned that you hoped Dr. R would research this. Have you ever asked him about the Chitosan? I'm just curious as to his feelings about it. Thank you again for sharing the information. > > in OK > > > >
Guest guest
Hi , I am not sure which Effect Xenical had for you:0) I never tried it, but I did use a Chitosan product off and on for about 8 months before surgery. I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, so for me the fiber really helped and made things much more normal. I also took half doses when I first started back on whole foods after surgery because I heard warnings about diahhrea and the orange team. I had no problem with it and no orangey problem becuase the fat was bound up in the fiber as it went on through. I stopped it because it was one more thing to take with all our supplements and I was no longer suffering with IBS. But I had no ill side effects from it. I know everyone's systems are different, but it balanced mine nicely. I am not sure if Xenical is a fiber or a drug that changes the chemistry of the fat. There has to be some big difference because it is a presrciption drug and Chitosan products are not. Just my experience. I also think I would try taking it differently, like before bedtime when people seem to have the most trouble with Bile Reflux and other reflux, rather than before every meal for the fat loss effect. I do not know. I can't find anything yet that would say it could hurt. I am hoping it will help somebody. I have no reflux problems now, thank God. Guest guest
Since my mgb I've found that grease comes out sort of like it goes in, orange greasy droplets in the stool. I was just happy that my body isn't absorbing the fat. I don't do that anymore. I had hell to pay. I had ate some spagetti with meat sauce on it. I spent a lot of time in the bathroom, lets say. Wasn't quite worth the trouble. YUK! I may try Chitosan too because you're right from what I read it sounds like it would cut down on bile in general - a good thing for the gallbladder too I would think. The added weight loss benefit might not hurt either! BTW - I am officially in the Century Club - I weighed in tonight at Weight Watchers at 198 - the first time I have been under 200 since 1994 when I got pregnant with my first child! 275/198!!!!
