Guest guest
Hi to everyone, I've been unable to post for a long time as my life got very hectic both personally and professionally in the past three months. It's been great to catch up and see how you are all doing and that there is still a place to go where the greatest, most supportive people on earth can be found! I had my surgery on 10/12/00. I weighed 275 on the morning of surgery, with a BMI of 47 and various accompanying ailments. I was on blood pressure medicine, thyroid medicine and anti-depressants. Basically, I had no life other than work. Today I am 81 lbs down, with a BMI of 33 and I'M UNDER 200 LBS. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FIFTEEN YEARS!!!!!! I went from a size 22/24 to a size 16. It seems like I've lost many more inches than pounds. Clothes fit me now that didn't when I weighed the same on the way up. I was one of the very lucky ones as I sailed through surgery with little problem and little pain and had an easy recovery. I was back at work within a week. I've had few, if any, side effects and feel lucky that God (and Dr. Rutledge) gave me this incredible gift. My weight loss has been on the high side of the charts and continues no matter how I eat. I even lost weight during a vacation in Las Vegas when it felt like I was eating more than usual. My loss has been as follows: 3 weeks postop - 20 lbs down 8 weeks postop - 37 lbs down 12 weeks postop - 49 lbs down 16 weeks postop - 65 lbs down 24 weeks postop - 75 lbs down 6 1/2 months postop - 81 lbs down I know things will slow down in the next few months but if I don't lose another ounce it was worth it. I've been reading all the posts about Dr. Rutledge's problems. It occurred to me that if we all are as vocal to BCBS and Durham Regional as those giving out negative info, they would listen more to us. It saddens me that this gift is being withheld right now from those who are suffering. I have a family member whose surgery was cancelled five days before the date. I wish some of those being so negative understood what they are doing to innocent people like that. (...don't bother emailing me. I know your views and I don't share them.) Sincerely, in Atlanta MGB 10/12/00 275/
