I don't think any of us would want to walk in your shoes with that bile reflux, I know I wouldn't. I was a newspaper reporter way back and then I left and took a job where I was pretty visible in my community. And I KNOW how it feels to be misquoted. Sometimes they ignore the positive things and concentrate only on the negative instead of balancing both things said. You were honestly telling your truth I'm sure. I've had a somewhat similar experience of late. I am an active participant on the main list. And posts that I sent to that list have been dissected on another list and I've been lied about and misquoted. One person actually said that I said that I didn't care what happened in 20 years. Sheesh. My daughter had this surgery...I guess I do care what happens in 20 years. This person said it as though I'd said that I was 57 so what the hell. (As in ho hum I'll be dead anyway so to hell with everyone else). I never said any such thing, not even near that, not even anything that could be misquoted as saying that. Someone else might have but it wasn't me. So I've been lied about. I also read where I am supposed to believe that there have been more MGB's done than RNY's. All I can say about that is that I'm not mentally retarded and I haven't been living under a rock so I don't think that and didn't say that, didn't intimate that....again more lies for what reason? What kind of threat am I to folks on other lists that they need to lie about what I supposedly believe. I also never said that bile reflux is acid reflux. But I stand by what I said that lots of people are confusing one for the other and ignoring treating the acid (which can be treated fairly well) because they believe it's bile. Some folks,having read the other list, are completely paranoid about bile. And that's ok as long as they don't overlook what could be a first line of treatment for acid.They are different. Both need to be addressed. If the treatment for acid doesn't work...then the possibility of bile needs to be investigated. Most of us have the meds for acid right in our homes from the prescriptions we got after surgery for acid. If it doesn't work then we certainly need to pursue other medical treatment. That's all I really said. Then there's the one who said that I was discouraging folks from having endoscopies. Not so either. I have them every six months and have for years. And I've posted frequently about my digetive problems of the past.My major problems before surgery were digestive. So my primary physician is a gastroenterologist and he'd never let me go very long without an endoscopy. So I do understand how it feels to have what you say taken out of context and I do understand also how it feels to be lied about and talked about as though you were either mentally retarded or evil. If it was the folks on this list who spoke of me like they do on the other list I would be devastated. But when I consider the source, I am able to shrug it all off. I hope that your problems can be resolved. This is not your fault. We all know it's not your fault. Or at least everyone should know that. And to send you private nasty emails is very low. I think Watts is a very good name. LOL. Here's a hug . Not much consolation when you feel like shit, I know. But there's lots of us out here who care how you feel. Mine indicated that this would be a managable problem if it happened to me. I hope you have seen one, and if not, RUN to one quickly!!! You don't want to mess around with this problem!! Good luck. Unfortunately because you are having problems and are voicing these problems you will be categorized with " the other one " . Also unfortunately a certain percentage of us will have complications of one kind or another just like any other treatment or surgery - there are possible complications with anything. I can't imagine that anyone would want to send you nasty emails simply for stating how you feel, but that's absurd! Consider the source, maybe, and let it pass.
