Hello Everyone:

I am MOST excited about our next agenda for the DD Council Family Advisory Council meeting on August 9th. Once again we will meet in the Columbus Developmental Center training room from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Many of you requested hearing from County Board Superintendents so I listened. Jeff , Deputy Director of Constituent Services will also be providing input on what the role of the Department is with the 88 county boards.

We have the following Superintendents on our agenda:

Portage County: Dr. Macke

lin County: Jed Morison

County: Winters

County: Deb Clayton

Lucas County: Trunk

They will be talking to you about what services they are mandated to provide as well as what services locally they provide. They will speak on how they support individuals and families that meet eligibility.

They will also talk about who needs a case manager and how their Service Support Administrators are trained. I have asked them to talk briefly on how they work to have good communication with families and their approach to keeping people informed. They will also provide materials they have locally developed.

We will have time for questions as well. The afternoon we will once again have -Day speak on Medicaid Waivers. is the Deputy Director for Medicaid Development and Administration. Many of you have wanted information regarding Ohio's future in waiver world and an update regarding transition in waiver reimbursement. We will also allow time for questions.

PLEASE mark your calendars for November 3. Developmental Disabilities Council will be hosting our Family Advisory Council to a special day and a real treat. They have invited us to meet at the Midwest Hotel for the day to have our meeting and to hear Simon present on her publication of "Riding The Bus With My Sister". has been speaking about her journey to the disability community, the public transit industry , medical professionals, schools and businesses. The book was recently released to the Hallmark Hall of Fame for a movie and starred Rosie O'Donnell as her sister Beth. Hope you will join us then!!
