I'd check the SAFETY aisle in a store like Toys R Us.....I think they have some saftey things for cords... For ur son, we try to put furniture in front of outlets.

ps... if you want to route an extension from one room to another, it's easy to lift carpeting up abit next to the wall and run the cord along the wall benieth carpeting.
