Sue- like I said-I have the same problem with the memory thing-but I'm not

sure about the paranoia. I don't think that I have that problem. I

apologize if I made you upset. Hey-I try to keep a sense a humor. Don't

leave on my account-I meant no harm.

Actually its a good sign that are concerned about going crazy. That is proof

that you're not. Its a catch-22. Only when you stop worrying about it is

when you probably are. Something like that-I'm not sure it came out right,

though. Sorry to hear about your mother-we'll say a prayer for her tonight.

Bob,

I try to keep a sense of humur too but not to make someone more paranoid

about it. No harm done. I just have my plate full right now, being a

single mom to 3 boys and my youngest having the hep c too, my

transplant, and now tomorrow morning we find out if the tumor in my

mom's head is cancer. I haven't stopped going yet! I'm sure you meant no

harm and it is nice to meet you.

Yes, I have done some exercise. I joined a ladies only circuit workout

(similar to Curves) about 3 months after the MGB. I went 3-4 times per week

until June when I developed female problems that resulted in a complete

hysterectomy in October. I had two surgeries and only went to the gym once

in a while. Once I recovered, I began exercising again. During this time I

became anemic and the iron pills made me nauseated. (I was the star player

on the Green Team). Everytime I upchucked, I would make myself remember that

this would not last forever. And slowly I built back my iron levels and came

back to health.

Exercise does help in raising your metabolism and you feel better afterward

and I also slept better. As I lost weight, it took more rapid movement to

get my heart rate up and sustained. I have always hated to exercise and

would use any excuse not to do it. The reason I joined a women's only gym

was because I was so self-conscious about my size and my lack of

co-ordination. Now I could care less. I am considering switching to a

regular gym at the end of my contract.

Angel, there is no magic formula that made the weight loss occur. I am more

active now because there is minimal pain in my joints and I can move about

more freely. I eat healthier because those healthy foods are what my tummy

will accept and not bring back or make me nauseous. Those two things are

what the MGB has done for me in that it has forced eating habits and choices

to change. The results of my food choices, portion sizes and exercise is

good health and a size 8. I try not to fret about if I am still losing or

how fast.

A whole new and wonderful life is a few months away for you. Live it to its

fullest.

Judy My last viral load was done just a month ago. I really do not want to do any type treatment any more My blood count dropped with the ribovian and we had to stop it. then he put me on infergan whicht Made me so depressed I was suicidal and still have not recoved from that. Yes you are right you definitly need antidepressants going thur the treatment. I did go to a rheumatologist because They thought it was arthritis but test were all negative so he thinks I might have fibromyalgia. But I wonder if the high viral load would give the same symptoms or even cause fibromyalgia. well thanks again and thank you for the picture Everyone have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend. Sue

Sue am not offended about changing my posting. The problem is, I don't kow what I did to get it there, the ad I mean. Do all my postings come through with ads? If so, what are the ads? I know all our postings follow with an ad.

Any suggestions to kill the problem?

Mucous free diet, hmmm. Is that all you do, stay away from dairy, white flour, sugar, red meat or porcessed foods? Where did you find this diet? I think it sounds more interesting that Weight Watchers and cheaper too.

PS I don't have an ad on this message, let me know if one comes up at the top. I have no idea how to get rid of it, but will take all suggestions.

The real Sue thomas does have MS and is in a wheelchair. She was using a

hearing assistance dog at the time she worked for the FBI, and still has

one. The story shows her as a young woman when she left OH and went to

Washington and got a job with the FBI. She started out as a fingerprint

technician (boring). Then they had a tape they took of a person and

couldn't figure out what he said, and brought her in, and she was able to

read his lips well enough to tell them when the next meeting was and so

forth.

I thought the show was well done, because when someone was speaking

behind her back, she had no clue they were talking. And the actress who

portrayed her is deaf, or at least HOH, and signs. So when she

vocalized, she did have a deaf accent. Deanna Bray was the actress. And

because Sue thomas was young when she got the job at the FBI, they used

an actress in her 20s to portray her. I saw all the episodes on tape,

and it was pretty accurate. NO she could not read lips of everyone in a

crowd. And they used technology to magnify the mouth of the person she

was lipreading and so forth. Or she used binoculars.

In one episode, they were asking her to read someone's lips and she

looked and couldn't figure out what either person was saying. So she

said, " They are speaking a foreign language. I think Russian " .

It's no longer being shot, but may be available on video or in re-runs.

I enjoyed it. It was filmed in Canada.

The only thing about Sue I don't understand is how she is able to

read lips in a group. How does a person keep track of who is talking?

Before I started wearing hearing aids, I used to notice how people would

speak over each other when talking in a group. That makes me wonder how

Sue is able to lipread during her meetings with other FBI staff on

the show. I know it's a TV program and doesn't represent real life, but

it gives hearing people the false impression that the D/deaf and HoH can

read lips perfectly no matter what environment they are in.

In the real story line, it was during the 60s, although the TV show had

it in the 90s. So cochlear implants weren't known then. Remember it's

only been 25 years or so.

I wonder why she never tried cochlear implants?

Hi Jen, I also have lived with a life of trauma. I've been in Therapy and

Recovery for over 20 years and I'm still in need of meds. I have PTSD from

chronic pain so I'm on a mood stabilizer as well as something for anxiety in

addition to the Lex. Lexapro is the only AD that I have ever been on that

actually works on me. I am finally depression free after 50 years of chronic

depression. I am stable for the first time in my life. I can't say enough good

stuff about Lex. It has saved my life.

Sue C

Hi Sue, not many people have posted about side effects they endured when they

started the med, did you deal with any? Terry

No, no side effects what so ever. It's like the stuff was made especially for

me according to my own body chemistry. I also took Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac,

Effexor, Wellbutrin and Celexa and had no side effects with any of them

either...well actually the Wellbutrin was kind of rough for the first 10 days I

was on it. They all worked well with my chemistry but they quit working after

about 10 months to 2 years or so. I'm going on the second year with the

Lexapro. I don't know what I will do if Lex. stops working.

and all,

In the theatre, it is referred to as " willing suspension of

disbelief " . In other words, you allow yourself to " grant " that such

things can happen in order to make the story more interesting. Harry

Potter and such are prime examples. Bond, etc. Go for the fun and

the stories, and don't expect verisimilitude (how's THAT for a big

word?).

Enjoy the shows and

allow yourselves to fall into dreamland where anything can, and does

happen

Hi Kat,

As you and so many other have pointed out, my date thingy is messed

up. I updated something on my computer and as a result every time I boot

up, I get a Nov 2004 date, and have to change it. Being blonde, I often

write many things before remembering to change the date. Kind of a time

travel thing here. I might just dump the program that caused the

problem. told me how to fix the date, and someone else told me to

take apart the motherboard and insert a new magnet. A sure fire way of

screwing up a computer. Will put a post it note on my screen so I

remember to change the date. Sent all my mail from one account (I have

6) with 2004 dates today. Give people something to scratch their heads

about!

Thanks,

, Good summary.

But I have to ask, why are some of your posts showing with a date of

11/8/2004? They end up at the bottom of my email pile (which is

sorted by send date) and I have to go look for them. Can you please

check your pc's clock date?

Thanks, Kat

Hi Sue,

Thanks, day 6 and so far so good. The diet has been easy to follow so far. I'm sure it will get challenging eventually but I'm taking it one day at a time too.

I had the band removed due to complications on 4/9/08. Fought tooth and nail to keep it, but had it removed emergency surgery in the states. I cant stop eating. I feel so helpless and out of control. I was seriously underweight and was slowing whittling away to nothing. Weighed 220 DOB 12/28/06. Weighed 106 4/9/08. Goal weight was 135. I am now in less than a month to 140. I feel like such a failure and feel like I am spinning out of control. I want to get the sleeve but financially we are pretty much ruined for awhile. The insurance did not pay for the week hospital stay or the surgery because it was band related. I read the posts all the time but have really never participated. My bad! Just looking for anyone who has any advice or helpful comments. Sue

I'm late coming into this thread, so I don't know if this has been mentioned,

but I saw Sue FBeye on Animal Planet the other day. I'm amazed at how

well she can read lips. At the same time, there was a Deaf student in my high

school who was an excellent lipreader and because of that, many hearing people

would assume she had normal hearing. The only thing about Sue I don't

understand is how she is able to read lips in a group. How does a person keep
