Guest guest
Welcome, Christene! I'm glad you found this list! There are a lot of great parents here who have a lot to contribute! I have a great opportunity here to learn from others, and I'm sure I'll learn from you, too!! I hear good things about the Monarch School and I hope your son does well there. I'm afraid that I don't have the experience you are looking for. My son, going into 2nd grade next year, has been in the reg ed classroom with supports since kindergarten. Most of the school personnel I have worked with have said my son was the first student with autism they have worked with, so I do have plenty of experience working with staff to educate them about my son and his unique style of learning. We've been lucky in that just about all the school personnel have been willing to learn more about autism and to be flexible to find what works for my son. > > Hello, > I am a new member. > My name is Christene, and my son was diagnosed with autism PDD a little less than 3 years ago. He is now 5and a half. has attended the Achievement Centers for Children and next year we are planning to have him attend Monarch. > > I look forward to networking with parents in my area. (East suburbs) I am especially interested in finding a mentor parent who has been a catalyst to prompt their public schools to co-create a phased integration of our children into typical settings in the elementary school system. > Looking forward to learning and laughing with you! > > Warm Regards, > C
