Hi ! Welcome! I am rather new to this group/area (I moved about a year and a half ago) but I should tell you they are really great - very helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, throw them out here. There are some very knowledgeable people in this group who are always glad to help (they have helped me a lot!).

Subject: [ ] I am a new member!!!

Hi everyone, i am new to the group. My son is 3.. he is currently under evaluation for an autism spectrum disorder. No diagnosis has been made yet , although we do feel he needs therapy. He does talk but not much conversation. Alot of echolalia and repetition. He is very loving and playful. We believe he is on the higher functioning end. I would love to hear from anyone . We live in Avon. This is my first attempt for support systems in the area so I am very excited to be involved with all of you. Thanks for listening!!

Hi ,

I'm Trish, Grandmother (AKA " Mimi " ) to Noah 5. I want to welcome you

to our group. You did the right thing by seeking support now, while

your child is in the process of being evaluated. I know just how the

uncertainty can consume you with worry. There is a lot of learning and

sharing of knowledge here on this board. There are other good

groups out there that you may want to look into later. But this one is

unique in the fact that we are all bonded by location.

Here, all ideas and questions are encouraged. There are a lot of

different interventions that are being used here. Many are doing

biomedical treatments using the DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) protocol,

Andy Cutler's protocol or use Homeopathic Medicine. Some are doing

special diets, either alone or in conjunction with suplements and

Chelation. Other are using strictly traditional therapies such as ABA

(Applied Behavior Analysis), Biofeedback, Listening Therapy, Floortime

therapy and others. No matter what we do to help our kids

recover, " therapy " is so very important.

Without overwhelming you any further(yet), I just want you to know

that our kids DO improve. The main slogan in the Autism Community

is " Autism is treatable. Our kids Can and Do get better. "

Never hesitate to post questions and ideas. We're in this together

to help our kids recover. It's a long road, but lots of help is at

every corner!

-Trish
