Antibiotics before and/or after surgery anyone?

My daughter did not get antibiotics before or after surgery.

During surgery an infection of the cholesteatoma.

was found. Surgeon said he put anitibiotic in the packing however she

developed and infection post surgery, probably the same one, that was finally

treated with oral antibiotics.

When my husband had back surgery (unrelated to infection) he was give

antibiotics both before and after surgery to prevent infection. So it seems

cholesteatoma patients should receive the same since cholesteatoma's are very

related to infection.

Did any of you get antibiotics?
