Vicky - stay on the stage 2 diet as long as recommended and you will have a

better weight loss experience. It is too early for you to be eating solid

foods.

Hi Tracey

I am 4 weeks Post op from a Modified radical mastoidectomy and have

asked myself similar questions. Firstly, I am not medicaly qualified

to be able to give you advice. If you are at anytime concerned please

contact some one who is medically qualified for appropiate advice/

treatment :-) Also some surgery is different and more extensive than

others and healing varies with age and individuals.

That said, I had packing in my ear for about three weeks and always

had some form of watery bloody discharge especially at night. Very

noticeable on the pillow. As it was a small amounts and looked like a

mixture of old blood and antiseptic it did not concern me to much.I

also felt generally well (no fever,No increase in pain etc). The

packing started to work it's way out after about two weeks, and this

seemed to coincide with the bloody discharge as well.It didn't look

to pretty either, quite a bloody mess :-).

Even after the packing was removed from my ear last week and filled

with some form of antiseptic cream, I have had some bleeding. The

surgeon/consultant has assured me this is normal and o.k.

I have had some taste disturbance, but it is more of a lack of taste

than a funny taste. Although the first few days everything tasted

like antiseptic.

My ear still feels a bit sore and uncomfortable (full of yellow Cream)

Take it easy, healing takes time.

If In any Doubt, see a DOCTOR.

Regards

I am also 3 weeks post op. My ear doesn't run during the day either (usually though it did today a little). It does at night so I put a half a cotton ball in that ear so it doesn't make a mess. I'm not too worried about it. 3 weeks post OP

Hello everyone.

Just a quick question.

I am now 3 weeks post op after having a large Ctoma removed.

Can someone tell me if it's normal to still have discharge(which does

not smell) coming from my ear. During the day time i have an awful

taste in my mouth, and my ear does not run. But will run once i am

laid down at night.

I have had about 5 days without pain.(YAY) But the last few days my

ear has felt sore, and at time a dull ache. Thing is i'm not sure if

my ear hurts or my body playing tricks on me. As i have had earache

on and off for over 3 years. And i know your body can make you think

your are in pain.

Im not due for another check up for 2/3 weeks. Should i wait and see

how things go, or see a doctor?

Thanks for readng

Upate...

Thanks to everyone who repiled to my post.

Since posting I have been seen by my Doctor as the pain became worse.

My Doctor sent me straight to ENT ward to been seen.

The findings were that i had an infection. Ent Doctor carefully

tried to remove some of the discharge. Heavy Anti-B'S and painkillers

have been given. Plus another month off work. ( I have been off work

since April due to Ctoma)

I will be going back to ENT in 5days to ensure the treatment is

clearing up this infection.

May i wish good luck to all who are waiting operations and who are in

recovery from one.

Regards

Tracey
