Guest guest
It just goes to show that you should never take for granted that someone read a medical chart or understands the procedures you (or your child) has done. I took my son to get a custom ear plug made on Wed. This was with the Aduiologist at his surgeons office. It crossed my mind to say something about the canal wall down but slipped my mind when we got down to questions etc. She had a student working with her but she looked in the ear after the dam was put in. In goes the putty for the mold, everything goes great. Time to take it out...guess what? It broke off. Yup they didn't notice that he had a mastoidectomy and I'm still not sure how you miss that! I'm not mad because you make mistakes, who doesn't but I was a tad upset since after a visit to an ENT (All drs were out of the office we were at) we find out it has to be removed with him asleep, IV and all. So NEVER feel silly reminding people. My kids know that from this day on I will tell ANYONE who so much as touches his ear. The medical instituation was great and covered it all no charge as they should. I have had 2-3 calls apologizing. As I said mistakes happen and I gaurentee the student and audiologist will not make that mistake again for awhile. He is fine feels much better now that it is out of his ear and it doesn't feel as if it is plugged. Now off to make an appointment with his surgeon to follow up next week.
