Guest guest
Hi , Have you tried Swim of Things in North Royalton? They are expensive(last I knew it was $105 for a week of 1/2 hour sessions, and from my own experience well worth the cost!. Ann ----- Original Message ----- From: rmaher1969@... I have considered lessons before, but there are several issues that have prevented me from doing so. Maybe I'll check my local area for this kind of program. My son LOVES the water and although he is never out of my sight, I worry that if he were to see a pond and take off.....well, enough said. ----- Original Message ----- From: smdscott141 Sent: 5/17/2006 6:40:05 PM Subject: [ ] A post about swimming made me think... Hopefully everyone knows the leading cause of death for someone with ASD. It's drowning. Forewarned is forearmed. There is another reason for my gloomy tidbit. LifeWorks of Southwest General Hospital and (I believe it's) Tri-C west both offer swimming lessons for children with developmental disabilities. Not only is it reasonably price in my mind, but if you qualify (which is easier than I ever thought, even with a middle class income) you can have it partially paid for through your local MR/DD. Another reason to consider it is because a lot of our children have socialization issues (one third of the core triad) and this would give them the ability to be involved in a team sport (swim team). Not only is swimming then practical, but it can give a child a hobby and a 'team' sport.
