Hi Ann,

Glad everything is going so well for you. A meatoplasty is the widening of the ear canal for cleanings in the office. Sometimes they can even remove small bits of c-toma if it grows back. Larry had a little pearl removed that way quite some time ago.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi,I had my second post op yesterday. And the docs are very happy. The surgeon said that everything looks perfect. The cavity is dry - no sign of infection. He said he was delighted because the c-toma was so extensive. He is referring me back to my original doctor (so no more 4 hour drives for checkups - i'm only 5 mins from my local hospital). He said he hopes to never see me again !!!! (he was smiling :) ). He mentioned something about cartilage and meatoplasty(not sure how to spell) - that went over my head - anyone know ?He said I will eventually get back most of my taste but that the problem was the c-toma was wrapped around the nerve for your taste buds (i just want to be able to taste chocolate !!).Anyway - I am so happy (one of the other docs said it was nice to see a

patient who smiled !!). Wishing every one a happy christmas and a c-toma free new year. Thank you to every one in this group - you provided me with so much information and support over the last year.ann.

ear, so I am so glad you have a dry ear, and no infection. What a

blessing for you! I also am glad you do not have to do that 4 hour

drive either. Did you drive there for your appointment, or did some

go with you? I was hoping some one offered to drive so you could take

things easy. Well you just keep dpoing good OK! I wish you a speedy

Hi Ann

Glad to see that things are going well in your recovery!! I'm still

plodding along with a dry, clean ear after 2 and half months post op.

Feel very lucky that this is the case! Like yourself I had that

thingyplasty - widening ear canal and also just have a cavity - no

hearing bones/ear drum etc...They have never mentioned reconstruction

but then I am under the UK NHS so I doubt that will happen!

Hope you have a continued recovery and...

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY

wishing you all a peaceful and happy recoering new year!!
