Guest guest
Hi, I'm not sure, but I think when tympanogram results are flat, it means that the eardrum does not move or vibrate as it normally does. Maybe because when it was re-built they reinforced it with cartlidge which I believe would make it stiffer. I also assume having a v-tube or a hole in your eardrum would affect the test results. I think this test is quite painful when I have negative pressure in my ear ... I always hate to have it done because I'm afraid it's going to hurt. But, when I have a v-tube it doesn't hurt . Oh well, none of this really answers your question ... I'll be watching for others to respond. You have a great weekend also! carriebear2228 <carriebear28@...> wrote: Hi everyone; I'm not sure if anyone will have an explanation for me, but it is worth the try: After a recent hearing test I noticed that the tympanogram for my right ear was flat (I had c-toma surgery and tympanoplasty 2 years ago). The peak for the left ear was normal. The audiologist didn't say anything, but I am wondering if it is normal to have a flat tympanogram after having a tympanoplasty? If anyone has any knowledge about this, I would GREATLY appreciate a response.......otherwise I might phone my ENT next week. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Guest guest
Hi You'd have a flat tympanogram ( a deaf flat line) if you're eardrum was perforated. Guest guest
I found out its also normal to continue to have the flat tympanogram if you have a tube in your eardrum. I do and mine is still flat, but I guess that's okay :-) > Hi > > You'd have a flat tympanogram ( a deaf flat line) if you're eardrum was perforated. > > Phil > > Hi everyone; I'm not sure if anyone will have an explanation for me, > but it is worth the try: > After a recent hearing test I noticed that the tympanogram for my right > ear was flat (I had c-toma surgery and tympanoplasty 2 years ago). > The peak for the left ear was normal.
