Hi,

If you would tell us your location, I'm sure someone in the group could give you a recommedation for a doctor. Please ask any questions you have. This group is a wonderful source of information. Also, look at past messages and you might find answers to your questions there as well.

Hi,

I live in Granbury,Texas. How long after you are diagnosed with cholesteatoma do you have the surgery?? How do you afford the surgery once you get the appointment?? How dangerous is it??

If in the United States, try the Michigan Ear

Hi ,

I live in Mesquite, Texas and I would highly recommend Dr. Owens in Dallas. He is associated with Baylor Hospital and I believe he also has an office in Plano. He is a neurotologist and is very experienced in Cholesteatoma. I have had c-toma in both ears. Ideally, you should have surgery as soon as possible after being diagnosed. That is because typically, the c-toma has been there for quite some time before being found. I have medical insurance so that is how my surgeries have been paid for, all I have been out is the deductible and the co-pay. Please let me know if you would like the phone number and address for Dr. Owens. As far as how dangerous the surgery is, well, I suppose that varies with each person but surgery is the only way to get rid of c-toma. I have had no complications from my surgeries and usually was off work a week or less. I hope this helps.

Hi ,

I also live in Texas and Dr. Owens removed my c-toma and I highly recommend him, too. My surgery was in 2001. I was able to return to work after one week with no problems.

Yes, Carl LaMell has done some very creative things at Clearbrook, under his

leadership. There is a great resale shop that employs people with disabilities

and a coffee shop. The partnership with The Hope Foundation to develop homes

for people with autism and epilepsy actually is not the first creative

collaboration. The Pals Program for more physically and cognitively challenged

young adults came before it, some years ago.
