Guest guest
Hello Sue, I haven't heard about this type of "rinse" for the ear. You posted this before, and I think one other member had this same treatment. However, anything that feels as bad as you describe, cannot be good. I was fortunate after my surgery that I did not have any drainage once the initial surgical area dried. The initial oozing did last a few weeks though. My otologist is a believer in leaving the packing in for a full month... maybe this was a good thing after all, although quite uncomfortable. Is your upcoming surgery in December for "reconstruction, or for a "second look"? Did you have tubes inserted during the CWD surgery? I didn't know they also did this with CWD. I think many of the members here had "meatoplasty" done. I guess this would eliminate the need for tubes... but without the meatoplasty, it would be more difficult to do regular cleanings. I am going to see my otologist on the 25th, to discuss reconstruction... hopefully... it is been one and a half years since my surgery. Lynn -- A healing question Hi All, I have been doing real good recovering for my typamomastoidectomy.I also had a CWD and tubes. But I am getting a little concerned about all this drainage/blood/and what looks like pus to me.I am a little over 3 weeks post-op. My doc ordered me to wash my ear 2xs a day with vinager/salt and water mixed and I must say I did it once and NEVER again this was killer! Well after the one time of doing this my ear pounded like crazy and burned/hurt. I felt so dizzy I almost hit the bathroom floor and the room was spinning, this lasted about 5 hours it was weird. Another question why is my outside of my ear numb yet sore will I get feeling back in this ear? And does the larger then normal apperance of my ear become normal again? I am going to find out about second surgery which should be around Christmas when they do this reconstruction job will they have to cut behind my ear again? I must say the rinse was worse then the surgery!! Have a great evening all!! Sue M.
Guest guest
Sue, I ended up with drainage that looked the same way as you desribed it and it had a very awful smell to it. My doc called in an antibiotic to take as well as using the ear drops. I would call your doc just in case you ended up w/ an infection also. The numbness feeling you have also goes away. I was 4 wks. post op yesterday and everyday a little bit more feeling comes back to it thankfully. There is hardly any numbness feeling left. My ear looked the same I think as before I went into surgery so I can't answer that question for you and I am thinking I won't need another surgery hopefully so I can't answer that neither. They had to cut behind my ear to do the tymponaplasty (sp) and also remove all of the c-toma though so if you have any questions, feel free to ask. > Hi All, > I have been doing real good recovering for my > typamomastoidectomy.I also had a CWD and tubes.
