First question is best taken to your husbnad's surgeon.

2nd one, keep him busy. LOL The time will go by fast enough.

Sherri as for your husband's question I would suggest that you call his

physician's office. It may be perfectly normal but a call the office would be a

good thing to do.

As for your question that is one I have never seen asked. I think my

suggestion would be to find some good books to read to make time pass. That

waiting period is very difficult for everyone. Tell him most of all he needs to

get his rest because lets face it he just had major surgery.

Hello Sherri and your husband, too-

Congratulations on the surgery and the excellent recovery. I was so glad to

have my surgery behind me. The first week and a-half was tough, but each day

now gets better.

I am awaiting activation in January and have been doing pretty good with my

recovery. I am not sure about the bleeding, but if it continues, I would

consult the surgeon's office with a call and check in with them. It may be

normal and they can put you mind at ease.

As for your question, I have been doing a lot of reading and that has helped me.

Also, I went to the library and took out some movies that I wanted to see. That

has been a great way to spend time.

I do not go to the movie theatre because of my hearing loss, but it was great

watching movies that I have wanted to see over the years, at home. Plus the

closed captioning makes watching the movies much better.

Taking a walk each day helps, as well. We have been having mild weather here in

NY and I have benefited from walking around the neighborhood. It really lifts

my spirits.

Last but not least, I have seen my family and friends on a regular basis and

just enjoy being with those I love, even if I am missing the conversations. I

just try and get into a one-on-one and enjoy.

Did your husband have general anesthesia? He might have been intubated in

order to breathe during the surgery, so that is probably the source of the

dried blood. (Sorry guys, TMI!) Anyway, after my surgery, I had a sore

throat, sore mouth muscles from having had my mouth propped open during the

surgery and the tube stuck down my gullet, but with my being so good in

taking my Vicodin (lovely drug, guys!), it wasn't all that too bad...

Thank you all for your responses. I had touched base with the surgeon's

nurse who said some bleeding soon after surgery was common, usually drainage

from the eaustation tube, etc. She wasn't concerned but said she'd run it by

the doctor. I'm not worried but find it helpful to hear others experiences.

wondering how much bleeding and/or discarge others have had from the
