Guest guest
I am about to have a 2nd ctoma surgery (first one was just 6 mos. ago) due to regrowth (pearls) and I am concerned about pain where the scar behind my ear is. It is just now healed enough that I can wear sunglasses for long periods of time. I am afraid that opening at the same site will be extremely painful post-op. Has anyone else had these surgeries so close and has there been an issue?
Guest guest
Hello, My son had 3 surgeries 6months apart. The first involved the incision behind the ear that took a few months to heal. The other 2 surgeries the doctor made an incision by his ear canal and went in that way to clear away a pearl of cholesteatoma and do to reconstruction. Ask your doctor about going in from the front this time. Those incisions were much smaller and healed over in no time. Good Luck, ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Guest guest
The surgeries on my right ear were a year apart. For that one the doctor must have cut along the perfect point because I've never had much of a problem. I had mine done at a teaching hospital, so you never know who the chief surgeon will assign the work to (but he was there). My left ear was a different story. It's been over a year now and I still have days when my glasses bother me. The left one is more on the side of my head near the ear. The right scar, the one that doesn't bother me, followed right along where my ear meets the side of my head perfectly. So, extremely painful ... nah. Prone to being irritated, probably.
