Oh yes. They never bring anything up here. A friend of mine actually has a good case manager who is helping her and even suggesting things. That is a new concept for us.

Is she in cuyahoga or Medina county? does she have connections with the cuy mrdd? just wondering.....

It would be wonderful to have a guide book of all the services our MRDD offers and who to call for questions about specific things.

My friend is here in Medina co. MR/DD. This guy is just actually helping her get services and money to pay for things. Go figure. I did not finish the paperwork for my 17 yo to be re-elible for MR/DD because they do nothing for him.

Speaking about costs and ABA and Cleveland Clinic, I was kind of not happy to see that their workshops are always so costly. If they do a workshop on ABA for people, they charge hundreds of dollars. At least, this is what I have seen in the past. It just makes it even more out of the range of the average person, IMO.

Very true, and not all their workshops are created equal. I've liked

some and wished I'd saved my money on others. The sad part is there

is no way to know the difference. Not enough of us parents are in

communication especially when we first get the diagnosis.

Roxanne - The CCCA has only so many personnel and resources, so they can't help everyone. They have to pick and choose. They might as well pick the ones that are loaded! . I would name your group and do the tax stuff. You can make money, you'd be surprised. Our local autism group has done a lot of different things to raise money. We've had an auction which was the best fundraiser so far. For our school sped group, we just has a magician come and do a show. Very fun! We've had "Pamper Mom" nights at local beauty salon's - people pay a set price to pick X number of treatments (nails or hair consult or similar) and beauticians will donate their time - some are so nice that way. We went to All Fired Up here in Medina and one afternoon, they donated a percentage of sales to our group. So we encouraged people to go that afternoon. There are a number of ways to do this - just use your imagination.
