Guest guest
hey bobby my name is john walsh and i'm currently a cmt in the army looking to branch out myself in april, what you need to do mate is approach companys like exmed and negotiate a price based on course layout. The offshore medics course as you know is four weeks long at a cost of around £2000. However what i'm doing is organising my own A+E placement and my own GP placement which is going to cut the cost of my course by around 50% and then all i will have to do is get them to fill out the relevent documentation. The companys i have spoken to are all happy for me to do this so what you need to do mate is shop around. Hope all goes well and let me kmow how you got on. >From: " bbby_eaton " <bbby_eaton@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Introduce myself. >Date: Tue, 15 Aug 2006 12:00:56 -0000 > >Hello All >My name is Bobby Eaton and I am an ex soldier and ex ambulance >technician looking to branch into offshore medicine. Guest guest
Hi Bobby, you will find that a few of the companies will also let you sort out your own GP and hospital attachments, Capita in Montrose being one. However, some companies will not touch you if you don't have the correct background. Out of interest with your background why do you want to go offshore? around 90% of the job is non medical. Cheers Tony >From: " bbby_eaton " <bbby_eaton@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Introduce myself. >Date: Wed, 16 Aug 2006 12:13:08 -0000 > > > > > > Hey > >Thanks for the info. Guest guest
---Hi Tony Thanks for the info, well at the moment I'm doing bodyguard work as and when it comes and a lot of it is abroad and much of it is for long stints away. But occasionally there are times when the work just dries up for long spells so a friend of mine suggested getting into offshore work as he'd done it for a few years. The biggest reason is there seems to be a lot of work and many companies recruiting or agencies finding work for medics. And also it seems that a lot of it is done on short rotations like week on week off or 2 or 3 weeks on/off which suits me as I have a young family and my wife is getting sick of never seeing me! the money seems to be good also. I dont particularly mind if there is only a small percentage of the medical side so I'd be interested in also learning the other aspects of the work too. But I am still very intereseted in the medic side so thought I'd just see what I can find out.do you work full time as a medic offshore? if so,what do you think of it and do you find there to be enough work/good pay etc etc?? Thanks Tony Bobby In , " Brown " <tonybrown24@...> wrote: > > Hi Bobby, > > you will find that a few of the companies will also let you sort out your > own GP and hospital attachments, Capita in Montrose being one. Guest guest
I have just found this group, so I thought I would introduce myself. I live in Port Sunlight in the UK and am 35 years old. I have just had a cholesteatoma removed from my left ear (right ear cholesteatoma removed about 14 years ago). The surgeon is a renowned ENT expert for which I am very grateful. He does the whole lot in one operation - matoidectomy, cholesteatoma removal and reconstruction. I believe it's a modified radical mastoidectomy. So far, so good. My left ear still has the wadding in, being removed on saturday. The pain has subsided and hopefully i'll have a dry ear. My right ear was in a similar state 14 years ago and has been absolutely fine ever since. My hearing isn't perfect, but I can live with that. It's great to read other people's experiences.
