Guest guest
Hi there - What questions would you ask a surgeon who was going to remove your ctoma? I was dx'd a week ago with ctoma. Within two days, I had made an appt with an Otologist (only does ear surgery...score!). I met with him this morning (7:10 am...yeesh). He seems to know his stuff - does 4 ctoma surgeries a week and when discussing complications, either stated he had never seen that with his patients or that it was extremely rare (depending on the complication) - or that he would not expect that with me for various reasons. He didn't gloss over the seriousness of the situation, but went a long way towards calming my fears about having ctoma again. His immediate actions were to get a hearing test for me and to arrange for a CAT scan. He even said I could wait until May for the surgery (that I was not an emergent case)...(my sister's getting married in April, so if possible, I wanted to wait). So far, so good. He gave me his biz card and said if I or my husband had any questions to email him, he read his email every day...so what questions would you ask him? Thanks.
