Guest guest
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has tried that low cost hearing aid touted by Ampliear? http://www.ampliear.com/ I have an enlarged ear canal due to ctoma removal and was concerned about the sizing...as well as quality and durability. I have already seen an audiologist and it will cost me $1800.00 for ONE hearing aid (the insurance policy I have through my employer no longer covers even a portion of them as of the first of this year. I am considering applying for state aid but even then I'll have to contribute $400 or more). Any insight or advice will be welcome. Guest guest
Hi , I've learned a long time ago if something sounds to good to be true, it most likely isn't. Looking over Ampliear's website, you can tell they're selling a " snake oil " hearing aid along with they're vitamins to improve hearing! I agree with you that hearing aids are over priced; however, they're a lot more complex then just amplifying sound. Hearing aids " fitted " to an individual amplifys only the specific sounds needed, not all sounds. I think buying Ampliears would be the same thing as flushing your money down the toilet. Try going to an hearing aid center and see if you can get a used trade-in or discontinued model. Good Luck!
