Dave,

I'm assuming the tennitus went away with the reconstruction? I'm due to have the surgery probably in February for reconstruction and that's one thing I've never thought to ask. Does the tennitus go away?

Thanks!

Hi Suzy:My symptoms were almost exactly like yours. I had hearing loss and the ringing was louder than usual (I've had tinnitus since I was a kid, so I'm very used to it by now). I never had drainage, and was kind of puzzled when my ENT asked this question. Unfortunately, the only way "out" of this problem is with surgery. I had surgery in February, c-toma removal and reconstruction all in one fell swoop. Everything is fine now, and my hearing improved to the normal range. I'd have to agree with others that the most painful part of the surgery is wearing the "cup" for a day or two afterwards. Personally, I wouldn't put off surgery. I had to put off my surgery for several months due to insurance problems (and once because of a father-daughter dance :-), but I just couldn't wait

Hi Dave.

I've had tinnitus practically my whole life (I'm 24). It is something I am used to by now, I just wondered if it went away. I have difficult times in a quiet room or if someone is whispering and I'm trying to concentrate on hearing them or a specific noise as the tinnitus seems to get louder.

Thanks,

:Sorry, the tinnitus didn't go away. I didn't expect it to, either, since I've had it in both ears pretty much all my life. But it did go back down to the "normal" level (ie. about the same as the non-c-toma ear). I know tinnitus can be a pain, but you really do get used to it after awhile. It really only bothers me when taking hearing tests, because it's difficult for me to distinguish between the test tone and my tinnitus.Dave> > > > > > Hello......I'm glad to have found this board!! I have been living with tinnitus for 30 years, you do

get use to it. About the only the I notice it now is

when I think about it.
