Guest guest
Hi, all, Need some advice. is now 2.5 weeks post-op on her first c-toma surgery, which removed the c-toma from her right ear. She was give amoxicilin for the first week-plus after surgery, and we were then instructed to begin Floxin drops in the ear twice daily (5 drops per). Since last week, she has complained that the drops burn, and she has been afraid of drainage, so much so that she has stayed in bed for up to 2 hours after getting drops in the morning. I assured her that this was normal (after conferring with the on-call nurse for our ENT). Yesterday, she developed what looked like conjunctivitis in her eyes, and my wife took her to our pediatrician this morning. Here's the advice request: our pediatrician said that she doesn't have pink-eye or other conjunctivitis, but she is congested AND she has pus in the operated ear. The pediatrician prescribed an additional antibiotic, but I'm worried about the infection and how it impacts 's chances for recovering normal hearing. Anyone have any experience with this? Our ENT, Dr. Zalzal, is out of town, and we're scheduled for 's first post-op visit next Tuesday (8/12). We're trying to get in touch with the advice nurse, but so far haven't had any success. Thanks. -Jeff.
