Guest guest
My surgery was three weeks ago. I was told to use my ear drops. So I kept on using the ear drops I had. Well, they were the wrong kind. I started cipro drops about four days ago. Yesterday I saw the new ear doc. He tried to remove one of the pledgets (? a piece of the packing) and it started to bleed. He said they were hard and dry and stuck and stopped and gave me more Cipro drops. Just now when I used the drops they ran down the back of my throat. I said to my son, oh wow, I think my ear is opening up! Happy because the plugged up stuffed up feeling has been so uncomfortable, right? Duh. He said, " Mom, they're not SUPPOSED to go down your throat! " Have I lost my new ear drum? scared, cherie

Guest guest
Only your doctor can tell you that Cherie, however, your estauchen tube drains to the back of your throat, so that could be the reason you feeling the drops down your throat. I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your packing. I did as well, not using enough of the drops and mine was somewhat stuck. I didn't bleed, but the doctor had me go back to his office 2 days later and the packing came right out. If you are really worried call your doctor and have him/her take a look!! sharralin <cheralin@...> wrote: My surgery was three weeks ago. I was told to use my ear drops. Guest guest
You are most welcome cherie and I am so sorry to hear you have had so much trouble! I hope you are recovered from your non-working bowl problem. My aunt had that, she was in the hospital for days and days. She was also a diabetic so I know it was related to that illness, just dont recall the exact cause. But as for the ear pain, I know how you feel. I don't know which is worse an earache or tooth ache!!!!!!!!!!!! I know I have been through more than most in a lifetime, but then I read the postings of all these people and think how blessed I truly am to be at this point in my life compared to so many. God bless and a speedy recovery for you! sharralin <cheralin@...> wrote: Thanks Tom and . I have calmed down, been using the drops like crazy and see the doc again tomorrow. I think things will be okay. Even if I have lost the new eardrum, at least that blasted c-toma is no longer pressing on my damaged trigeminal nerve and that was the biggest problem. For eight months the pain was so bad that I was prepared for death, wrote the will, packed up the knickknacks, made the funeral arrangements, etc. Actually, I had another problem at the time that I was told I would not survive - the problem that has been such a big issue on this forum recently, which was a non-working bowel. That was the original reason for making the preparations, but even after that problem was solved, thank God, by finding a clinic that does high colonics, still, the pain in my ear was beyond anything I'd ever felt - exactly like when you grab an electric appliance that has shorted out and get a strong shock up your arm. That was what my ear felt like, 24 hrs. a day. In comparison to that, losing the new eardrum seems minor. And since there really was very little bleeding, I suspect that perhaps there is only a little loose edge or tiny tear or hole that could very well heal back. I will be glad to get that packing out though. The nerve damage magnifies all sensation on the left side of my face and my ear feels like it is packed with rocks and crawling bugs, eeeek. It is all I can do to keep myself from taking a toothpick and going after that packing myself. Drugs help. This was the first ear infection I'd ever had. My children had them, one especially had serious problems and had the tubes several times. They kept popping out until they put in stainless steel ones which lasted longer. My heart breaks from so many of the stories here; so much suffering from this awful thing.Best wishes to all of you for successful and permanent! recoveries.thanks, cherie We won't tell.
