Our daughter has had 3 surgeries the last being 12/9/06. Her first 2

were when she was 4 and she is now 7 years old. For all the

surgeries she did not have any nausea and was able to eat a popsicle

upon waking. She was in a lot of pain (and she does have a high pain

tolerance)upon awaking from surgery .She was given additional meds

and this helped alot. She was prescribed Tyl#3 and I did give her

that twice for all surgeries throughout the first day being home .

After that I gave only regular Tylenol because it was all she

required. You can not give Motrin or any product containing Aspirin

so have Tylenol on hand at home. By the next day she was totally

painfree. This was the same for all three surgeries which were all

about 2-3 hrs. long.

Her appetite was down as was her energy level for about3-4 days

after surgery.Have popsicles, soup , lots of fluids be it juice or

gatorade available. And foods low in fat and easy to digest.

Bring your son's favorite stuffed animal or security blanket and

they will allow him to take that into surgery. My heart goes out to

you and your family. Sending our little ones into the O.R. is so

scary. Our thoughts and prayers will be with all of you. Please give

us an update when you have time.
