Eardrum Perforation in GOOD ear AND question for professional singers

Happy New Year!

I had my first CWU surgery in late October in my left ear.

2 weeks before surgery my doctor removed both t-tubes and patched

the hole on the right ear (my " good " ear).

During surgery, he applied another patch - as it hadn't completely

healed.

Well, over the past 5 or 6 weeks, I have almost continuously had a

tiny pin-point hole in that eardrum (presumably where the tube was

once located). It heals and then " blows " again soon thereafter.

Has anyone had this occur before? I am concerned that this constant

healing process could start a c-toma in my good ear.

I sing professionally - and did a lot of singing during the month of

December... which makes me wonder if perhaps the singing has

contributed to this issue.

I visited my local ENT (NOT an otologist) who wasn't at all

concerned. I am not scheduled to see my otologist in Miami until

late next month. When I saw him last (right after Thanksgiving), it

had only happened once. He wasn't terribly concerned but mentioned

that we needed to keep an eye on it.

Has this happened to anyone else? Am I just being neurotic?

Also - how has c-toma (and the hearing loss) affected any singers

out there?

I just don't relish the idea of losing hearing in my only good ear

(especially with two little children)!

Happy New Year, again... and thank you in advance for your posts.

Michele
