2nd C-toma surgery: post-op staph infection: large bump above incision

I have had 2 C-toma surgeries to summarize. I have had a lot

of pain with both surgeries. The first one 4-4-06 was the worst since

they removed entire middle ear and reconstructed due to damage that

was done by C-toma.

Second surgery was 10-24-06. Dr. removed remainder of C-toma,

said he got it all this time, as was a big concern of mine.

However,Since the surgery, I developed Staph infection above the

incision above left ear. Incision runs from starts above ear around to

about the middle of ear. This is where the infection is. Well, since

it was dicovered, my Dr. placed me on Dicloxicillian which didnt do

anything for infection so i went to hospital er....they shot needles

with pain med into infection mass above ear...made in incision...then

tried to drain.....nothing would drain. But the took cultures to

confirm infection. Came back postive as i thought. ER gave me IV with

meds along with Bactrim DS. My Dr. was out of town during hospital

visit too. All of this was very painful and i was awake the entire

time but all I wanted was this infection to be out of my head.

Well...it has now been almost 3 weeks since infection was

found...it has gotten better...BUT, the incision/infection site is

still swollen (but bit nearly as large as it was---it made my ear

stick out so bad , i looked like sloth from the goonies)and it is

still red and very tender/sore to touch. This is my concern. WHY IS

IT STILL SWOLLEN AND STILL RED?

I have appointment with Dr. on Weds. What should I do? has

anyone ever gone through this. I dont want my ear sticking out or a

swollen sore bump above my ear...or for it to hurt when i put my

glasses on or whatever.

Sorry for being so winded but i just feel like i am not getting

the results i need from my Dr.

Thanks....Look forward to responses....
