I would like to hear from anyone who uses an alcohol vinegar solution

rinse in their ear after surgery. How do you do it and what have

been your results?

Thank you.

Hi Barbara,

I have used an alcohol vinegar solution in my ears at the

recommendation of my ENT, but this was before I had my cholesteatoma

removed. It's a simple preparation, you just need to mix 1 part

rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol with 1 part white wine vinegar. Make sure

to heat the mixture up to body temperature, but be aware that it's

better that the solution is a little on the cold side than a little on

the warm side.

Personally though, I'm more of a fan of using a mixture of 1 part

water with 1 part white wine vinegar. It's the acetic acid from the

vinegar that's helping to break down the junk in your ear, so that the

ENT can clean out everything with a little more ease. As always

though, I'd check with your doctor first.

Hope this helps.
