Guest guest
Hi everyone, Since this place has been so QUIET, I thought maybe I can try to get an informational conversation going... My querries are about whether or not wearing earplugs are necessary for everyone after mastoid surgery. I ask this because my surgeon, hasn't mentioned protecting my ear from water... (He did caution me previously NOT to get the packing wet after surgery). I didn't ask about this, because I didn't think about it when I saw him last. So I undertook some internet research and read all the posts here pertaining to earplugs etc... The only thing that stands out in my mind, is that a few articles mention that not wearing ear plugs is ok, and that if water gets in your ear, the coldness of it may make you dizzy if it hits the oval window. So only people with that particular problem are cautioned to wear ear protection to swim... So.... I am not sure about water in my ear... If you have a dry ear, can it harm you not to wear plugs...
