Guest guest
! You're on top of this illness you have!! I almost freaked out because I got a nasty cold/virus a month before my surgery that lingered, then left me with a little cough that I had right up to almost surgery. BEAT THIS THING. Get lots of rest, take warm baths, whatever makes you feel good so it can't defeat you this Friday. Even scream at it if it helps, LOL. I'll be thinking hard about you and will be eager for your report. Plan also to take 2 weeks off work after surgery. It was the perfect amount of time for me to feel normal enough to face my terrific, but demanding, job. Super that you may get Hi Res right away. As Alice said, that should give you a great start as it seems many Clarion users like it better than the conventional speech coding strategies. You're a computer/technical analyst, so that should be a fitting start for you. Guest guest
Hi I caught a bad headcold about a week before surgery too..My Dr. gave me a strong nasal spray and i was pretty much better by surgery time..i did wake up with oxygen thoug h so i must have had problems breathing..I hope you are well enough by Friday.. Love Dora Pre-op Hi! Just wanted to let everyone know that I survived my pre-op testing on Friday. It took a long time, lots of waiting around, but was easy. I did feel wretchedly that day though. Made the sitting around hard. Of course, as soon as surgery got within reach, I started having cold/infection symptoms. I immediately told my doctor " get rid of this now! " . He prescribed Augmentin, and I was feeling worse each day I took it. I was thinking it was a reaction to the antibiotic, so at pre-op my surgeon switched me to another prescription. I'm feeling better now, but still having one nasty symptom. Other family members are starting to feel lousy, so now I'm thinking it's a virus. This better clear up pronto! I'm having the implant Friday! I also found out that I should be able to start off with HiRes, as my audi is being trained May 15 and thinks she'll have the software by the time of my hookup. Guest guest
Hi , This is an order. Get Well before Friday! Now seriously - I sure hope the medication works. I had to postpone my first surgery for a month because I came down with bronchitis. I was not happy. Sounds great that your audiologist will be able to map you with HiRes at your hook up. That should give you a great start. Let us know how you are doing. Alice N24 11/99 N24C 04/03 Bilateral <I started having cold/infection symptoms. I immediately told my doctor " get rid of this now! Guest guest
Thanks to everyone for your sympathy. I'm a big baby when it comes to feeling sick--I want my mommy there to hold my hand! You all are the next best thing. I'm feeling a little better today; bad headache though. Thought it was from lack of caffeine yesterday, so I had two big cups of coffee this morning. Now I am all jittery! , I have a terrific, but demanding job too--I'm a SAHM for the most part. Since my husband is on the road every week, I'm basically a single parent all week. It's nice to not have to worry about working too. I do have my own consulting business, but only do a little work for the company I used to work for once in awhile. Maybe when I can hear again I'll get more ambitious and try out something new! Fisk Atlanta, GA mefisk@... CII 4/25/03 Re: Pre-op Plan also to take 2 weeks off work after surgery. Guest guest
Well my ear surgery is drawing closer every day it is in three and a half weeks. I had my pre-op appointment on Tuesday. Everything looks good and the doctor is planning on rebuilding my hearing. I will not have the week after follow-up appointment unless something happens because the doctor told me that I have been through everything before so I know what to do. This is good news for my parents who usually go with me to Salt Lake to the doctors office. I am excited for my modeling classes which start this next week and run for ten weeks, they will help keep my mind off the surgery. I signed a contract with a modeling agency this last month which is why I have modeling classes, this is exciting and my doctor promised that he will keep the hair that he has to shave off for my surgery to a minimum due to my modeling. Just a goofy question, I keep being told that I have narrow ear canals even after my last surgery for C- toma, will the doctors be able to go through my ear canal to help them rebuild or not? I did not ask this question to the doctor but I guess that he will know what to do. Shalynn
