TEMPLE GRANDIN TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL AUTISM MONTH WITH BELLEFAIRE JCB’S MONARCH SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH AUTISM Cleveland, Ohio - Internationally-recognized author and autism advocate, Temple Grandin Ph.D., will be the keynote speaker at the Monarch School’s commemoration of National Autism Month. The event, entitled “Honoring Achievements of People with Autism,†will take place on April 6, 2006 from 9:30am to 3pm at Landerhaven Center, 6111 Landerhaven Dr., Mayfield Hts. Ohio. Following Dr. Grandin’s 9:30am speech, she will greet guests and sign copies of her best selling books, “Thinking in Pictures†and “Animals in Translation.†The cost to attend is $75.00 per person or $35.00 for students, including lunch. Temple Grandin, Associate Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University, is among the world’s most renowned and accomplished autistic adults. Her groundbreaking research has both revolutionized and humanized the livestock-handling industry and our understanding of life with autism. Dr. Grandin has been featured on “Primetime Live,†the “Today Show,†“Larry King Live†and “20/20,†and profiled in Time, People, Forbes, U.S. News and World Report and The New York Times. The event will conclude with a panel discussion with experts in the field of autism moderated by Debra Mandell, Director of the Monarch School. Panelists include Dr. Barry, pediatric neuropsychologist at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Dr. Shane, Director of the Communication Enhancement Center, Children’s at Hospital Boston and Massachusetts General Hospital.
