Will be moving back to NE OH soon...need advice

Hi, My name is and I am new to this group. In Dec 2002, my

family moved from Painesville Ohio to Wisconsin to pursue intensive

ABA services because at that time, we couldn't find the resources we

needed in NE Ohio. (My daughter Audrey was three when we moved, and

she was going to school in Fairport Harbor, getting speech throught

the Society for Rehab, ot at Euclid Hospital, and music therapy at

the Cleveland Music School Settlement.) She had about 30 words when

we moved, but now after three years of ABA, she can communicate her

wants/needs, comments on things, etc...not much of a social talker,

yet. She does have rages and temper tantrums, at times, which is one

of our biggest challenges. Academically, she is doing well,

mainstreamed iin a regular kindergarten with pullout sessions for

about two hours per day for direct language, reading and math

instruction.

Anyhow, we were originally planning to move back to OH in August to

take care of my Dad, who is getting older and is lonely since my mom

died. Anyhow, due to the fact that he was recently dxed with

congestive heart failure among other things and his prognosis is not

good, we are planning to make the move April 1st. We will be in the

Painesville Township school district at least until the beginning of

next school year (then possible moving to other parts of Lake,

Geauga, Summit countis...)

I would welcome advice as to what is available in the area (schools,

docs, etc), as well as any info about how to make this transition as

smooth as possible. Last time we moved, we had a whole year to

plan..this is so sudden...we only have about five weeks!

Thanks! (I don't know what i would do if it weren't for these

groups!! Sorry to those who may have read about my dilemma on

another board.)
