Guest guest
My Ctoma was " discovered " about 2 months ago and I am scheduled for surgery on June 21st. I have always had trouble with my ears... it's the story of my life and I guess I am just used to it. I had tubes twice as a young child and have always had poor hearing and occasionally over the years had the " smelly " gunk in my ear. Well, here is my question.... I now know after a hearing test that I am running about 20% hearing loss in my right ear and 70% loss in my left ear (the one with the Ctoma).... my surgeon is going to remove the tumor and put in the titanium prosthesis. I am wondering... for those of you who have had the prosthesis put in, did you notice a big improvement in hearing? I am wondering if the " loudness " is going to be bothersome b/c my hearing does not seem " bad " to me.... its been this way for so long that I don't know anything different? and I am only running about 50% between the two.
