Guest guest
Hi Vince I have always have pulsating tinnitus whenever having a ear infection of any kind due either due to cholesteatoma or as in my last case for a month ago before my latest surgery, ear infection up in the whole aricellsystem. I guess fluid or cholesteatoma that connects to the hearing bones gives the sound of pulsating. I have had pulsating for two years before my last surgery and it was hell. Cause they surgeon I went to, argue for that the infection in my aircells would heal on its own (but I did not know that because he never said something about that). It was first after having seen another surgeon that I got the explanation. He then drilled the whole cellsystem out and that made a difference. Well this was a long story for a short question. Hope you sign up quick for surgery now. My regards Hey Vince, OMG, I thought I was CRAZY so I never said a word to my Dr. Although, now that I read others have had it I might not be crazy afterall. (some would beg to differ on this one) My Ctoma was VERY LARGE as well and since the surgery (feb 4) It hasn't happened since. PS, Are you scheduled for surgery soon? > I wondered if anyone if anyone has had a symptom called " Pulsatile > Tinnitus " . Guest guest
Not getting to the mastiod is a common error that inexpernaced ENT's make, you can tell that by alot of the posts that the we read here. The vast majority of c-toma's will invade the mastiod, I think I read some where that it's about a 85% chance that it will get into the mastoid. Yes you need to start out on the conserative side of things if the situation warrents it, but there comes a time when treating c-toma the Doc has to become agressive. This is way I try to get those new in the group to see a Otologist for a second opinion. Most GP's will send people to a ENT over a Otologist as they don't know or realise that impact that c-toma cause's.... tom hansen --- PETER LARSSON <.larsson.867@...> wrote: > Hi Vince > > I have always have pulsating tinnitus whenever > having a ear infection of any kind due either due to > cholesteatoma or as in my last case for a month ago > before my latest surgery, ear infection up in the > whole aricellsystem. Guest guest
Tom, I heard the term " Otologist " before. What is the difference between ENT doctor and Otologist? Could you please clarify it for the group. Thank you for your help. Guest guest
An Otologist is a ENT that specializes in ears only, extra Education is required for this title as well. In todays world I would suggest that you go to a Otologist over a ENT, 30 years ago when I started to have c-toma issues Otologists where few and far between. ENT's back then also specialized in Ears (mine did) but where not full blown Otologist's, however most of them know what they where doing back then. In todays world I would never send a person with on-going ear problems to a ENT as there are to many out there that couldn't find there way out of a paper bag. I've seen too many horror stories in this group with those who have just gone to ENT's. Otologists are your best bet........ tom hansen --- Tabaruk Chowdhury <puran_pagol@...> wrote: > Tom, > > I heard the term " Otologist " before.
