Guest guest
I am a convert to EVCO but still have plenty of Rice Bran Oil. I use it for frying cause of the high smoke point and also it was supposed to be high in anti-oxidants. Should I throw it out or finish it? Guest guest
I don't know how RBO was determined to be almost like OO. Maybe because their SAP values are similar: RBO - .129, OO - .133. Their properties, however, are quite different: Linoleic Oleic Palmitic Stearic OO 5 - 15% 63 - 81% 7 - 14% 3 - 5% RBO 32 - 47% 32 - 38% 13 - 23% 2 - 3% Of course, linoleic and oleic are both conditioning, so maybe that doesn't matter much. By simply looking at the percentages, RBO should be as hard as OO, but in practice, I don't know if that's true. I can't wait for our single oil soap swap so we can do a side-by-side comparison!
