Guest guest
I haven't visited this site for a long time. I had a hip replacement over 2 years ago. I'm in good health,59 years old, 5'5 " , 135lbs. I had quit my job about 1 year and a half ago and had been on COBRA until just recently. I tried to switch over to an individual health plan and just was totally shocked when I was turned down solely because the insurance company felt that I'm " high risk " because of the hip replacement. I've not had any complications from the surgery since I had it. My insurance agent informed me that once one carrier turns you down, they all will. She said I will probably qualify for insurance through Oregon state for high risk people at at very high rate. I don't think I will be able to afford it. I am not working (not many jobs here right now) and still living on a small inheritance. Has anyone else had this problem, especially in Oregon?
