What an awful thing to do to a four year old child! I know that my

mom has brought up many times that she wonders if things in my life

has complicated matters with my spine. I was starting to think that

too, but now my daughter has shown up with Scoliosis, an aunt was

diganosed with Scoliosis and two cousins all on the same side of the

family as my aunt have been diagnosed with Scoliosis. I find myself

very confused about it much of the time. So far, luckily, none of

them had the early problems like I did and none have required surgery

to date. Maybe if I would have not had the surgery when I was 2 1/2

I would have been one of the lucky ones too. Wouldn't it be nice if

someone could give us some real answers? You might not believe this,

but, when my daughter was finally diagnosed as autistic a couple of

years ago I was so happy I cried. It was the not knowing what the

real problem was that was hurting me the most and getting an actual

answer made all of the difference in the world to me. I think that

if we could get an actual answer for what caused us to have these

deformities it might just lift a heavy weight off of our shoulders.

Oh, , what a wonderful reply you posted! And even though you go

through so much! Thank you! I hope that all you younger people will someday be

able to put together the puzzle of things like scoliosis, and of autism as well.

God love ya, kid! Somehow, I did recover from that awful stuff at four, but

it seems that it never ends. It's just so interesting to find out that some

of us have all had the same spinal problems!

Sharon,

I just visited the above site. It is very interesting, and seems to describe

some of my " problems " . I'd actually never " googled " it or anything. I had

no clue that maybe some of us share symptoms in this regard. Thank you!

Thank goodness. I can breathe a sigh of relief and begin to rest my tapping

fingers and toes. Glad to hear from you, Jaron and Janet, and that you are

now on the other side of surgery, in healing and on the road to activation.

Now to hear from .

Hi, I just became a bandster today. I am scheduled for surgery on

the 23rd and am beyond excited. Did I understand correctly that you

just had surgery on the 2nd of July? Your weight lose is amazing.

You must be thrilled. I am a bit worried about what my energy level

will be after surgery but it sounds like you have plenty of it. I am

also interested in your pain level. Can you expound? Also what

about the gas is it just internal and uncomfortable or is it ...how

do I say this nicely...audible?

My energy level is fine. it is better than before the surgery. Probably the lack of a full stomach to drag around and my natural high and enthusam for loosing weight daily. If you begin to feel a little lagged, just drink some water. It really helps. I haven't had trouble with pain after the first few days, unless I bend over too much. I am passing gas ALOT. But if i don't then I feel pain. Whenever I feel pain, I try and bend forward a little, and rotate my stomach to help the gas move along. If you are back to work, I don't go back until school starts, be careful when you feel the urge to pass gas. Because you are on a totally liquid diet, you can have very loose bowels. It won't always be just gas coming out. (lol) Most of my gas passing is at night when I am lying down. I think I've had minimual pain because I am walking alot. fiftytugo <fiftytugo@...> wrote: >> I'm back from on July 2nd. i have lost 12 lbs. so far! I'm thrilled > beyond words. Hi, I just had surgery on the 21 of June. The gas pains hit you in your left shoulder. Gas X works just fine. Make sure you take some with you because apparently they don't sell that in Mexico. I didn't need mine in the hospital but I did have some gas pains after I came home. I really can't say that I had pain from the surgery more like irritation. You will also have burping. I understand that is something we have to learn to live with. Good luck on your surgery...see you on the losing side. joy4jane66 DOB 6/21/07 Current - I won't tell! Goal - #1 -50lbs. I would not really worry about it. The first sign should be a

gradual increase in BP but this may take years.

If it was a severe bilat prob you might see not response from surgery

at all so that is not you.

It is almost certain that DASHing will slow the return as one must

have both excess salt AND excess aldo to get HTN from aldo.

I am scheduled to have the sleeve operation by Dr. Aceves on Oct. 1st.

I see on this forum everyone talking about the post-surgery diet (10

days clear, 10 days shakes, 10 mushy). How did you all learn about

this? Is there somewhere I can find out this information to be best

prepared for when I get back from my surgery I make sure I have the

products I need already at home?

Thank you all for sharing your experiences! You help a lot of us who

HI, I just had wls with dr. a and I am on day 29 Keep it Simple I say

and don't worry about all the stock up. First 10 days chicken broth,

sugar free jello, water and i used multi-vitamin emergen-C drink. Next

10 days added v-8 juice and some protein shakes, preferred atkins kind.

Then next 10 I stayed on the same regimign.I have now added slowly the

last 2-3 days blended tuna or chicken from a can in the " bullet " added a

little mayo and avacado and still stay with the full liquids. I have

lost 22 pounds and am feeling great. Good luck with your surgery dr's

are wonderful in Mexicali and so in Ernie the driver

Hi ,

Thanks for the hints about the food. I think a lot of us who haven't had it done are always wondering about "what am I going to eat". You gave some great examples. WOW 22 pounds. I bet it feels good to know that you have lost that much in a short time. I wish you nothing but success and keep us posted about how you are doing.

Always,

Suzanne

Hi ,

Thanks for giving me some insight to what I have to look forward too. I have really been trying to change my eating habits before I go, so that it won't be so difficult. Being retired gives me a little time to really do a lot of thinking. But, I do work when I want. I am a First Aid & CPR and AED Instructor & Trainer so I do classes when I want to. Kind of nice to set my own schedule.

I really have appreciated hearing all the things you have said. Tell me what is Isopure protein drink? Where would I find this. I hear so many of you talk about it. Yummy jello--just kidding. I won't have any now, I will save that for when I need to be eating it. You have made a BIG difference in how I feel and I have really looked forward to you daily progress reports. Thanks a bunch take care of yourself, you are an important person!

I did put a crouton in my mouth last night and sucked on it...when it got mushy I spit it out to the dog who didn't mind at all.

Today I've noticed I have bad breath...I think it has to do with stomach issues as my oral care remains the same.

My pen rose drain hole (I refer to this as my gunshot wound) has only a scant amount of drainage today.

Hi Everyone. I am just writing to let you know that I had my sleeve about a week ago, Oct. 1st. At this point I have already lost 15 lbs. The post diet is a bit difficult, but no hunger pangs, just difficult to battle the "mental" part. But the BEST news is that I can honestly say that I will never regret my decision of having Dr. Aceves perform this surgery. I will have no qualms returning to him if I ever needed anything else that he would be able to help me with. The care you receive at his hospital is amazing...really. First, you get one doctor explaining the process and ready to answer any questions. Then, you get Dr. Aceves doing the same. Post surgery the doctors make a minimum of 5 rounds daily to your PRIVATE room. That is not even mentioning the wonderful care the nurses give you round the clock and Yolanda is amazing too. I would NEVER expect this kind of care here in the US unfortunately.I met three wonderful partners-in- surgery: Jen, Laurie & Swati. I hope they are doing great in recovery. I had my Sleeve done 10/2/08, I am down 8 lbs this am. I had a low BMI of barely 31. I am dreaming at night that I am eating food and realize I shouldn't...then I wake up.

I feel the same way as you about the care from the hospital team. This is a well run and efficient team.

Hoag,

I too was a low BMI to start with, although I think it is all realtive--as we all tend to reach that point where enough is enough. I was banded Oct. 1--same day Suzy and Swati and Laurie were sleeved. I am weak-most likely from the 10 day of clears. I am trying to boost my protien via liquid protein--but I fall short most days. I am just crazy tired. I went to work this morning and left early because I get so fatigued. I am hoping come full liquids some of this will let up. I too am down over 8lbs. That is somewhat reassuring.

I laughed outloud at your dream....as I myself dreamed my best friend would not speak to me because I ate two of her homemade chocolate chip cookies that were in the shape of a ghost. CRAZY!

Again, the care I received was nothing short of perfect. I am sooo incredibly pleased that I mangaged to find his website one night at 3AM and fired off an email to this board for support. It has been a lifesaver.

Take care,

jen

Hi ,

Thanks for getting back to me so quick and giving me the answer. I will check out GNC tomorrow. Wow I am impressed you made the pie and didn't even want to eat a blackberry. Well, good for you. Take it easy. Sit with the good old heating pad and you will feel better later.

or you can buy online and have it shipped.

Today when my guy got home from work, we strolled down the lane and picked black berries. I then put together a black berry pie and froze it. It's the first time I've never sampled my wares. The fall out is I probably over did it a little as I am now in the recliner with the heating pad to my back.

I did take my heating pad down to Mexicali but it was in the suitcase at the hotel with the guy instead of my overnight bag.
