Hi Margaret. I've never had manipulation done to break-up scar

tissue. I have heard of doctors (my own included) who use needles to

physically break-up the scar tissue without surgery. I don't know if

this guy is close to you, but you may want to give him a call

regardless. His practice focuses on Pain Care and Integrative

Medicine and utilizes Medical Acupuncture, Trigger Point Injection

and Myofascial Release among other things. I bet he can help you.

Let me know how it goes and feel free to E-mail with questions,

Doug

I have returned from my OS appointment. I am just over 6 weeks

postop. My ROM max is from 0 to 95 degrees.

I have improved steadily throughout my recovery. I started off only

at 55 degrees postop, so began much lower than what people usually

leave the hospital with. Don't know why ROM was so low, but it was.

I will be going in tomorrow for arthroscopic surgery and

manipulation. Even though I continue to improve on my own, the

" window " of opportunity for full ROM is closing fast. Six weeks is

what my OS says is the time to consider this manipulation because of

scar tissue. I hope I have stated that correctly. Excuse me if my

terms are not exactly right.

I am filling out forms, and getting ready to head back to the hospital

tomorrow. I will spend one night there. OS feels surgery will be

more like my previous arthroscopic surgeries.

I am a bit sad that I was unable to achieve it on my own, but know

that this hopefully will assist with increased ROM.

I have also been able to change my meds to Naproxen, and take my

narcotics only in the evening or if necessary. That will be a huge

help. Yesterday I reduced my narcotics to nearly zero, with the OS

okay. I was replacing them with extra strength Tylenol and Advil. My

pain level was no different. I kept records of each day, and was able

to show the OS. As a result, my narcotics will now be limited to

evenings and for major pain issues.

Thanks to those of you who have been supportive of my recovery. Now

to get ready.

Hi Diane,

Good to hear you PT is on it. Will look forward to hearing what the doc has

to say when you see him.

You mention elevation for your poor swollen knee....hope you are icing as

well. I can sympathize with the impacts of weather....just humidity when I

was in New York gave me problems.

Your Mom sounds great. What an inspiration!

Best wishes

Peace,

Jackie, a somewhat disorderly Virgo

Hey , This discussion is really getting drawn out and I guess I'm adding to it, but I must ask , What part of our practice is Personality ? What part of our practice is Innate? What part of our practice is Physical? What part of our practice is Education? For thought. Friend, Coos Bay docpartmanndc
