Antibiotic cover following a joint replacement.

I have just returned from my shoulder surgeon and I am 7 weeks post op.

I specifically asked him what he liked etc for antibiotic cover, as I have a

dental appointment in 6 weeks.,

I told him I haven't taken any antibiotic cover,in ages, as my last joint was 8

years ago, I didn't think it was necessary past 2 years..

any way he stressed to me that no matter how long you have had a joint

replacement, its necessary to always cover yourself.

Surgeons have varying opinions on this. Mine told me 2 years.
