Guest guest
Hi , I don't know why your leg should be so swollen still. I think you had better ask a higher authority. All the best, Joan ________________________________ From: marywaspe2000 <mary.waspe@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Mon, December 6, 2010 7:26:36 PM Subject: recent hip revision Hi Every-one, just thought I would check in to ask a question. I had my 4th revision hip replacement just about a month ago. I have stopped all injections and tablets now, and I am only using a walker now and again. I can actually walk quite well on the hip. But the question is, my foot up to my knee is very swollen looks like fluid. I can't wear shoes, I have never had a problem with swollen feet the other one isn't. is this to be expected 4 weeks down the track. my mum says its because I am doing too much, but I would have thought lots of walking pumping those calves would only help. I am just about back to doing all the things I did pre surgery except for things that put the hip at risk. thanks x

Guest guest
Hi , I¹m thrilled to hear how well you are doing. Congrats on the walking stick, another major milestone. Are you putting those feet up? Or hmmmm can you with a hip replacement? The pool should feel good. Congratulations at all this wonderful progress. So happy for you. Guest guest
Hi mary, That's great news. As you probably know better than anyone here all surgeries and the recovery from them is different so it's not a shock that you would have a different reaction to this oe with the swelling. Glad the ultrasound was clear. Take it a little easy and enjoy the freedom from the walker. Guest guest
Hi . Shoulder is coming along. It felt so good so fast I thought I was not going to have any problem at all but the more I use it the more it hurts. Still it's better at 2 months post op than the left one. 3 Months might be a bit optimistic. My os doesn't want to do the other shoulder for at least 6 months. I guess it depends on how much strength you have built up. Jeff ________________________________ From: Waspe <mary.waspe@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Tue, December 7, 2010 4:34:27 PM Subject: recent hip revision Hi Jeff, how is that shoulder going? I have ditched the walker for a cane. !!! Only indoors though, I don't feel safe in the crowds and uneven pavements yet. I didn't think there was anything wrong with my swollen leg /, as I had no pain no redness, but the surgeon said that can happen and people don't know they have a DVT So I guess its good they were on top of it all. I am now going to say this has been the easiest of all 11 joint replacements I feel so good I think I could have done the shoulder in January. But think I might wait 3 months, is that long enough between surgeries? As its weird I never had any pain in the hip it just failed that was that. I of course still have an enormous amount of pain in the shoulder and this has always been the case. So I will be glad to get it over with. Its been on hold for nearly 18 months. Do you think I am being too optimistic to aim for 3 months post hip? Some people go back for a second hip or knee 3 months post the first? Just wondered every one thoughts on that? xx -- recent hip revision I phoned the surgeon, and got the go ahead to use a walking stick now instead of the crutches and walker Yeah !!!! Guest guest
, I don't remember the details now because I was told so much at one time but my OS said that he sprays the whole operation site with some kind of anesthetic before he starts closing the site........anyone else heard of this? Guest guest
Jeff the other shoulder was done a year ago, it would be 3 months between the hip and this shoulder. -- recent hip revision I phoned the surgeon, and got the go ahead to use a walking stick now instead of the crutches and walker Yeah !!!! Guest guest
My surgeon put a pain pump device in my shoulder for my four shoulder surgeries and I think my hip replacement as well. I don't believe I had it for my knee replacements. Although I did have a morphine drip thing that I pushed the button for. The device he used is called: ON-Q® PainBuster® Post-Op Pain Relief System. Please ask your doctor to use this for your shoulder. It will be in place for about 3 days delivering anesthetic type drugs then you just pull it out when the ball is empty. Very easy and it does help. in PA bilateral TKR - 7/2010 left THR - 7/2007 > > > > > > > > > > > > > I phoned the surgeon, and got the go ahead to use a walking stick now > instead > > of the crutches and walker Yeah !!!! > > > > I also mentioned the swelling in my foot and calf, so he organized an > > appointment to have an ultrasound doppler on the veins, and they are all > > perfect no problem there. > > > > so I guess its just going to take time. into the pool on Friday. > > I am thrilled with the way I am walking at the moment and its only a > month > > tomorrow, > > > > x > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
