Guest guest
Like with all things, check with your doc. But personally, I think two weeks was when I started taking real showers - long hot ones with the shower massage on my knee. Think about how much effort it will take to get down into the tub, how you're going to do it, and how you're going to get back up and out. Maybe practice by getting down on the floor and back up again - and please make sure to have some one there when you do both the practice and especially the bath tub. Guest guest
, I had picked at a final scab that I thought was healed and it scabbed over and my PT said not to go into a tub or sit in water until that was healed. It was only one staple mark. It is a matter I guess, of not getting infection by sitting in dirty water with a sore that would let it in. That was my experience. And let me tell you, I really thought it was no big deal and had to wait another week. And I waited. I didn't want to have a problem. Donna R When will the incision heal???? I am so eager to take a nice long soak in the bathtub - but was told not to immerse the knee until the incisions are healed. When, on average, would that be expected?? I'm 2 weeks out today and it looks good to me..... - TKR on 1/11/2011
