Well done Barb......

I go next Thursday 23rd. Like you I can't stand sleeping on my back and I

have actually just for short period put a really fat hard pillow between my

legs and just laid like that for half an hour or so, I was too scared to

sleep like it in case the pillow fell out.

I was really worried about what I was doing at home and so I rang my surgeon

and asked him what level of activity I should be doing and he said whatever

I felt like, so long as I didn't go past the 90 rule which I haven't, plus

he said a lot of people go back to work at 6 weeks post op so I would

imagine going from doing nothing and then going back to work at 6 weeks

would just about finish you off. So I felt easy that I am not overdoing it.

My main issue is swelling in the operated side foot. It isn't from standing

still that's for sure !!!! Its beginning to annoy me. Had an ultrasound for

DVT and that was okay.

Today I am trying to get some Christmas cards made, I usually do them all

but this year I am doing much less.

Stripped the beds as we have a nice hot sunny day for a change, so they are

all re-made for when the grand kids come.

Okay that's about it for me

Glad you are doing well Barb.keep in touch

Yesterday I had my one month checkup with my OS.

He released me from his order to sleep flat on my

back. I am not a back sleeper so this has been one of

the hardest of his rules for me to follow. Last night

I was so excited at the thoughts of finally getting to

sleep on my side......but which one??? I have heard

people say that it is best to sleep on the operated side.

That was definitely NOT going to happen. Too

uncomfortable. So quickly switched to the other side.

After placing and adjusting a number of pillows around

me, I found a comfortable spot, which lasted about 10

minutes. As I feel asleep, I kept putting my upper knee

into an improper position. So I didn't dare to sleep in

that position yet as I could feel it pulling in my hip joint.

So after a month of 'dreaming' about finally sleeping in

some position except on my back, I slept flat on my

back again.......Disappointed and still weary.....

Today I spend most of the day alone for the first time.

had to go into work for a few hours today. He said

he felt like a Dad leaving his child at home alone for the

first time. He has taken my care very seriously. The

surgeon was very pleased with my progress. Told me to

take it at my own pace. It could be up to 6 months before

I felt absolutely sure of my total recovery... BARB in
