Before I talked to anyone, I ordered a folding cane from a travel catalog. Turned out to be about four inches too tall, and wouldn't adjust any lower. The therapist had me get a shorter cane, which helped me walk in a more normal way. However, my good old friend, my folding cane, travels with me in the car and would serve well in a pinch should I ever need assistance again.
